Having gotten my first sphynx, I am fast becoming an addict! I love the way she feels, her personality is like no other cat, and I am thinking that maybe my family would enjoy cat showing? I used to show horses as a child and really enjoyed it, but that is a hobby that is far too expensive for our family at this point. As much as we all adore Freya, I can absolutely see us adding one or two more to our family, my question is how do we get involved? how do we find shows? are there family type shows, like fun shows, where they may have classes for altered pets? I would love to maybe adopt a retired adult breeder to show, if possible. or would it be best to start with a kitten? There is no rush, we certainly couldn't afford a show kitten right now. I just returned to college (biology/pre veterinary medicine) so it may take a little while, but I can definitely see it in our future, just don't know where I should start!

Thanks mews2much! I live in South Carolina, I don't think there are any breeders around here to even visit. We got our spyhnx, Freya, from a family that needed to rehome her, they got her from a shelter. She is probably not a show prospect, but she is an amazing cat! I used to be a dog groomer, and have been to dog shows, but have never seen a cat show.

So you think a kitten would be best? I would like to find some shows and see the different cats, I'm not sure how to do that.

    Thanks for your advice

Your cat is not show quality but that is ok.
You will learn more about sphynx from her.
I can not find any CFA shows in South Carolina.
There is a TICA show but it is Sept.
A kitten is best when you start showing.
Older cats tend to act up in the ring.
Are you willing to go to other states to show?
There are CFA sometimes in South Carolina also but there are none listed right now.
I did not see either of my sphynx before I got them
I picked them of the breeders websites and they were shipped.
