Hey guys, I have another skin condition.

Cynder has tiny hard bumps going from the top of her head all the way down her shoulders and onto her back. They're white for the most part (they turn pink if she or we scratch them, and can get a but scabby). They don't bother her and don't seem to be itchy.

We haven't switched up any products since switching litters months ago (we're using Dr. Elsey's Ultra Precious).

I've been spraying them down with Vetericyn Skin Spray, which will get rid of them for a while but they just come back after a while. At first they were just on her head but they're spreading down her back now.

I've read through the Sphynx Lair forum on common skin conditions and this doesn't seem to match anything.

I have not yet consulted a vet, but will be next week if they haven't improved.

It looks like allergies to me also.
Food maybe? Does she eat chicken? Many sphynx are allergic to Poultry.
Shampoo, cleaners, laundry detergent, fabric softener, litter.
Most of the time it's food or litter. I would take her to the Vet asap.
She has to be miserable. Keep us updated.

I haven't switched up detergents or anything, but I've been using oxyclean in my loads pretty consistently starting about 4-5 weeks ago, though only for clothes, not blankets, sheets etc. I've been thinking about switching to a detergent with no additives like tide free and gentle or ivory snow. We don't use softener.

She's not been wearing shirts since it's warmed up here (yay summer!). She's allergic to wheat, but we've made sure to remove that from her diet. There is however chicken in her food, and probably in her treats.

The bumps are not present on her belly, nor is there any kind of rash on her belly.

And don't worry! They're not itchy and don't seem to bother her. I probably bother her more than the bumps with my spraying her with Vetericyn and checking her out lol

It could be a food allergy. That is most common in sphynx.
I would have her checked. I would change food and treats from chicken.
Here is a good site for Hypoallergenic foods.

You can find at a petsmart, petco, or pet specialty store.

Could it be a sun allergy or bumps from the heat or sweat? I ask cause you say it warmed up at your place. My boy Ross has bumps that look the same as Cynder's (although he has less bumps) and the vets said it was caused by my boy sweating under a blanket in the sun.

Hope the bumps will disappear from Cynder soon!

Just to add, food allergies can develop any time, sadly.

The bumps could be food or exposure allergies. Change one thing at a a time so you know what it is.

Goodluck and keep us posted.

It's possible it's from heat, but it doesn't look or feel like a heat rash. This is something that's been present for a while, just not on this scale.

I went through what she's getting in terms of food and treats and literally every single product has some form of chicken in it. So today we're going to switch to chicken free and see where that takes us.

I've certainly read that sphynxes can developed allergies out of the blue (totally sucks).

Thank you all for your support and advice! <3

Hey everyone, thought I'd give you an update.

We switched all of Cynder's edibles to chicken free on Saturday (she's loving the switch-up!). Her bumps are drying up! I think chicken was definitely the culprit. I'll let you know if/when the bumps go away completely. I'm so glad the vet wasn't needed. :)

Thanks everyone! This is the best support group ever! ;D

Okay, so I may have gotten a little over excited. Seems to be little improvement right now. Initially I thought they were drying up, but there's been no further changes. I'm going to give her a few more days to see if there's any change, but at this point it's quite likely I'll be taking her to the vet next week. :/

hi, maybe you considered this already, but we had the same when he was laying in the sun; no open sun, just ,sun shining on the bed through the window; he would lay exactly there who knows how long, I would find a wet spot the shape of his body when coming home :D
