Momo, 3 years old boy start getting spots a few months ego. Vet said it's pigmentation and nothing to do about it. I feel like it's spreading and getting darker.
Any ideas?

He is on raw meat last 3 months. The spots I noticed long time ego.

Much Love

Very often black splotches like this are due to yeast growth. You can ask your vet for an antifungal shampoo or you can buy one online pretty easily and see if that helps. However, I do have to recommend you take the cat to a skin specialist who can help with diagnosis if there continues to be any issue after that.

you mean cat skin specialist? :) where do you find this people? also any recommendation for shampoo? Can cats pass the yeast to humans or humans to cats? I see the spots are so big now. Is there any other treatment then shampoo ? Should I try to find a different vet?

@momoandyoda , I live in a small town, no pet dermatologist close here. my vet is my primary vet.

3 vets all said pigmentation , did any mention a skin scraping to rule out yeast? rule out urticaria pigmentosa ? we have seen with some sphynx in group.. I don't think you need a specialist to do that. my vet does all in office and can send out for results.

how long using wood pellets? is it something new?
wondering if related? I know some can have reactions to certain litter like corn, walnut..

brain storming here, does your baby sun bath alot? asking because when I adopted Batman he had large areas of pigmentation from oversunbathing confirmed by vet check.
I adopted him, limited sunbathing in windows and put a cat tree in indirect light area. it all cleared up on its own in several months. no creams no meds.
attaching a pic of what he looked like.

for shampoos , what did vet recommend? I have used trizchlor 4 shampoo . others surely will chime in.

we use wood pallets since the beginning.2,5 years, I don't let him on the sun at all as he did burn his neck last year and now im really careful. I don't know what skin scraping is or urticaria pigmentosa. my vet never mention any of it. I guess I go and ask again. he also had problem with yeast in his ears in the past and the infection is often coming back.
