Hello… I was just looking for some advice. I have just rescued a ‘sphynx cross’ as i was told by the previous owner. She is only 10 weeks old. I am unsure if any of her parents were true Sphynx or is she was just born hairless to two parents who had hair.

The lady who owned her did not have experience with the breed and an had not washed her since she had had her which is nearly 3 weeks. Her skin is very dry to touch and she is covered in tiny black spots that are flush to the skin. None are crust or raised or flaky. But it covers her entire body but not on the pink parts of her skin only the darker areas.

I just wondered if anyone else had came across anything like this before with their Sphynx as I am unable to decide what I think it may be. I do own 4 Sphynx myself and never came across skin that is like this poor babies. I have other animals in the home and was worried it may be ringworm but upon looking at pictures online i don’t think it is and I haven’t seen her itching since we have had her home. I am a bit worried to let her around the other animals as of yet but wanted some others opinions.

going to call our vet on Monday morning to take her up to get her checked over and see what they say but they are not open until Monday now so will have to wait.

Please if anyone has any ideas or advice in the meantime time please reach out with some advice. Thank you.

@muzzymuzz Poor baby!! I learned early on that my Ary had skin allergies, her Vet was able to refer her to a Dermatologist, and even prescribed a special soap for her as well as allergy medication. I would wait for her Vet visit prior to trying anything, just in case they need to do a scraping, etc.

Thank you so much!! I was so worried that it could’ve been fungal or a contagious infection that could’ve spread to my other sphynxs. But that makes sense now since the lady I got her from said that her food hadn’t been agreeing with her at all!
