Hi everyone, I have a Spynx kitten called gizmo (photos attached just because she’s so cute) she has just turned four months old and has recently got two small red bumps on her back they seem like pimples I was just wondering if this is normal or if I need to treat these. Thank you in advance:)

@Gizmosmum , welcoming you and adorable Gizmo to the lair family. she is precious. thanks for the adorable photos.

they can get heat rash, small red bumps , from wearing clothings. I saw in your other post her adorable photos with clothing on. you could try letting Gizmo go nakid for a few days, week and see if it dissapears.

some can be sensitive to fabric softeners too.

mine go nakid now as one kitty nearly fell from a high area when the "thumb nail" got caught in a sweater. I personally would not leave clothing on if not home supervised. just wanted to share.

Thank you, she doesn’t wear the clothes for long I just wanted to see the fit for when it gets cold and never goes unsupervised. It could possibly be a heat rash as she is a very playful girl and is constantly running around and covered in sweat which I try to keep on top of with a flannel and warm water as she gets filthy every day!

She is a little diva! she settled in with me within hours and loves cuddles and kisses and even gives them back to me! She has a huge bowl of toys and her favourite things to play with are the sticks instead of the feather toys themselves which is typical hahaha she loves anything that dangles and is very playful but also loves to cuddle and be as close as possible to me she is such a mummy’s girl. Photos of the small red lumps attached please excuse her oil she is none stop and don’t want to bath her more than once a week for obvious skin reasons

@Gizmosmum , thank you for sharing the photo. awh,, so wonderful your little Gizmo Diva settled in so quickly loving on her mum! they are truly amazing. I swear cat, dog , monkey baby all in one for life. mine are all seniors now and still active playful into Everything.. little busy buddies.

mine get little heat rash bumps 3-4 ,from time to time that clear up. I wet a swissper cotton pad with vetericyn ( I like it is non toxic) and clears up in a couple of days . many of us keep on hand vetericyn spray.

have you checked her over for any other red spots? under arm pits etc?
I would monitor and see if they clear up or worsen, then a vet visit if worsens.

any change of litter or use fabric softeners?

she sounds like a sweetie.. mine like drinking straws to play catch fetch. lol have a basket of other non fav toys. I make a run to the shelter to donate.

ps... no apolgies every needed here on sphynxlair. we all post real photos , daily life of our babies. hope you join in on selfie saturday thread!
ears, skin not needed to be "picture purrfect " and that is purrfectly fine.. it is part of sphynxlife and our down to earth bunch. I know she has the bestes mum! hugs n head smooches

I checked her over and she has no more she just has those two but I will definitely keep an eye on her because she recently got her second vaccinations so not sure if it could be a reaction but nothing has changed with her food, litter ect and she is completely fine in herself:) so nice to hear your senior babies still enjoy a playtime. Thank you for the advice:) I am a worrier with her I have called the vet for advice a few times with things because I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right for her. She had her health check and she was in perfect health with everything which I was pleased to hear

@Gizmosmum , awh,, bestest mum. keep us updated, all paws are family.
never hesitate to ask any questions. the sphynx info center is a great resource we all refer to. the top right search box I find handy too.

so happy her wellness was great!!
** I wanted to share when I joined here I learned to have chart at vet marked NO Ketamine anesthesia. as it can have a rebound effect on heart if unknown underlying heart conditions. I ask my vet lots of questions before spay/neuter or other surgeries and what anesthesia used.

if you plan to spay , and want a microchip, many do at time of spay/neuter surgery. (and will need to usually pay a separate registration fee . I check with microchip company to make sure they have my correct contact info. had a vet tech typo it once). you will see more in the info center.

we are here for you and adorable little Diva Gizmo

She is going to the vets for a check in October to see if she is healthy for a spay and will be microchipped at the same time as the procedure :) I will be sure to ask plenty of questions about what they plan on using and make sure the vet has the best knowledge of the breed beforehand:)

@Gizmosmum , awh. great mum. some members get a soft cone or little recovery suit. you will see pics of in group (looks like a little flower). my girl did no have either. my vet did not give a cone. I kept her calm in my bedroom for a couple of days and she never licked at her incision.

*** ask vet if it is an abdominal incision or Flank incision for the spay surgery.. I share bcz I learned here it is up to the vet, one member was surprised when she picked up her girl and she had an incision on the side from a Flank Spay instead of abdominal area.

keep us posted on the couple of little bumps. hopeful all goes a way in a few days, sharing a pic of the vetericyn (non toxic) many of us keep on hand, mine get into everything, rub on scratching posts, throw rugs etc giving themselves little nicks/scrapes marks. they make a hyrogel but I find it clumps up solid over time.

The vet is arranging a meeting when she has her check to discuss which I want wether it’s flank or abdominal she said it is my choice! I will be asking which is the least risk and going from there. I have been looking at the surgical onesies and thinking of ordering one with gizmo being so active I think it’s her best bet. She doesn’t let me go near her with a collar so I don’t think a cone will be the way to go

@Gizmosmum , you are on top of it.. great job mum.

mine dont wear collars . my moms cat got it stuck on her lower jaw (lived). and it was a breakaway collar. some have gotten collars stuck on floor heat vents etc. just my personal choice.

she won’t be wearing one now she hates them, it was a carrier I was suggested to buy at the pet shop which they need a collar to attach to so they don’t escape but it didn’t seem safe at all so that is now collecting dust and she now has my backpack carrier which is secure and she can see what’s going on around her which she much prefers. I learnt my lesson to not listen to the people in the pet shop, but you learn as you go I guess
