If you are going to write one--please keep it strictly informational. Making comments about back yard breeders, bad breeders, declawing, not buying from breeders who don't scan--all are judgemental and are opinions not shared by everyone. Offer information, point out the benefits of scanning, etc., but keep it factual. How to select a good breeder, what you should expect to get when you buy a registered kitten, a history of the breed, health problems common with the sphynx, medications to avoid, the colors sphynx can be and pictures that illustrate them, types of coat--rubber bald, etc. how to bathe and care for your kitten, about showing your cat, nutritional needs of the sphynx, litter boxes and litter training, breeding, stuff like that--but try to keep it positive and helpful--not negative and preachy. Just my opinion--that and a couple of bucks will buy you a cup of coffee.

I agree about keeping it informational. I am just doing an outline there are many things I don't even know about the breed so it will take a while!

Wonderful advice once again Susi. There are a lot of cat and kitten care books on the market. What would make a Sphynx book special would be if it was filled with information on color, coat, health, care etc specific for the breed.

I agree with the others--care, feeding, their insanely social & dog-like personalities  etc. I also think it'd be nice to have a part about things our vets should know. For example, sensitivities to certain drugs, that their skin is thicker than most cats, their ears might be goopier than a furry cat. That they're prone to HCM..... I don't have a veterinary background but I know from SL that there are some differences.

I agree! And while I would sometimes enjoy bringing such a book to my couch to peruse, or to my bedside stand to glance at before going to bed, I wouldn't get the wonderful kindness and friendship from all the crazy cat people on the Lair. I am so grateful to you and ilovemysphynx for starting and maintaining this site. We love you admin!
