Hi all! I have had a sphynx previously and knew what I was getting into as far as the meowing aspect and talking. However, I got a 5 month old (now 6 month old) sphynx (I was supposed to get him earlier but he got sick, etc. so he was past the early socializing period) and he won’t stop meowing. Like, almost never. I hold him, play with him, have upped his food intake (he gets great food and is insane about food), have tried ignoring it, putting him in another room for “time out” then rewarding him when he stops, I’ve tried being loving, firm, alpha, everything. He does not care. Some things work a little, but overall it’s tough. I know the meowing is generally for attention, however, he wants it nonestop and all the time. He looks me in the eye and screams at me. It doesn’t matter how much he’s held, he still incessantly meows. He’s learned that it drives me crazy which I think is the major issue. I had to take him to his vet for boarding and when he came back he stopped for two days, so I know it is me and figured I’m doing something wrong. He does seem spoiled, but I try to balance the love and holding him with his own time. He sleeps in a seperate room for boundaries and he used to meow all night, but is doing better with that (started giving him a treat to go into his room for bed). He loses his **** for food time and I’m trying to work with that as they is when he is the loudest and most incensed. He starts every day at 7am and 7pm despite the fact that he eats at 9am, 8/9pm and has for over a month. At this point I’m sure it is a time and patience thing but has anyone had a similar experience? He is extremely smart, and I wonder if training him for things might help. He is better the days I play with him more and make it rigorous and make him use his mind. Thank you!
