Hello :) Not sure if I am allowed here as my cat technically isn't a purebred sphynx but her mum is. A friend of mine adopted a rescue sphynx and didn't know at the time she was pregnant, she had 5 beautiful babies, one of which is mine but they are all very different. Mine is now 10 months old and has a thick coat of long soft fur, my worry is that she will overheat. To be honest we are in the UK so that isn't a problem most of the year but last year we had 40 degree heat and I am wondering how she will cope. When she runs around the house she gets so hot she just lays panting which I have heard is bad in cats, she has her mouth open a lot so I am worried that she is permanently too warm. Does anyone have any experience with sphynx cross cats with long fur please?

All babies are welcome here. Cats are usually pretty smart about escaping heat. Putting ice in their water can help, running a fan for better circulation, there are cooling mats you can buy, and keeping the cat tree out of direct us can be other ways to help keep them cooler. Feel free to share a pic of your baby with us.

We also have a 5 month old black and white cat who is very lively Cookie tries to keep up but isn't as agile! I have 2 cooling mats which they just look at in disgust!! Thank you so much for your thoughts and ideas, ice in the water is a great idea!!

sharing, even purebred sphynx have can have various amounts of fur. here is a great read

never hesitate to ask questions. I have fans on, etc and they still burrow in their blankets even is this heat. I have added ice too and changed water frequently.

agree with catzzzmeows tips.
