My spuddie has very dry skin and gets flakey. I've also noticed he has some rough spots on his rear that have become darkend. Almost looks rash like to an extent. Not painful for him but have no clue why it's happening. I purchased some emu oil shampoo and after his bath put pure coconut oil on him. This still isn't enough to keep his skin hydrated and stop him from scratching. If I keep a shirt on him it stops him from clawing his skin open but then his flakey skin gets worse. Any suggestions on how to keep his skin more hydrated and why his skin is becoming rough and darkened on his rear. This would be most helpful.

Here's his coloring before and what his skin looks like now. The flaking is not visible but the dark spots are.

Have you tried some healing lotion? Aveeno works well. I've put it on Simba and Nala before. It's all natural so it didnt hurt them if they licked it.

People have used olive oil, coconut oil, it could be some pigmentation, where
the dark spots are coming.
Also, you could try using either oil before you bathe, then wash
Good, rince really well, over and over and over. How often do bathe him?
You could also put the oil on him put a shirt on him and take it off if you
leave and at night time. He will be very oily as you know, so you'll have to
cover things up.
But, he might just need to go to the Vet. It could have been the shampoo
you were using. Does he lay in the sun a lot? Morning, evening, or both?

Again, if he's really itching and can't get much relief, he needs to
go to the Vet. It could be allergies, or a number of things. He might
suffer more while your trying to figure it out. Please keep us updated
about him. Best Wishes.

He gets a bath once a week. I was using Johnson's baby shampoo in the beginning Ang then he started to get dry. Then I switched to the emu oil. When I coconut oil him up I put the shirt on him to try and keep it on his skin and off the furniture. Also this way he's not gobbling it up by licking it off. My other has a vet appointment on Saturday I think I'll bring him along just to let him have a look see and see if he has any suggestions. The poor kid. I feel so bad that he's itching. I've done the humidifier also to try and keep some moisture in the air. I'm ready to bust out the Crisco! Lol do their coloring a change over time? This is the first time I'm a sphynx owner. I did a lot of research before I got them. My 2 are rescues. I've had them for a year this October. Spud was a breeder cat that lost an interest in the ladies and Sammy was removed from a home and given to a breeder to make him healthy again so I could adopt him. Sammy is a sick little guy. He has permenant damage to his sinus's

Spud up date. He is doing so much better. Vet gave him a cortisone shot and a special shampoo to use 3 times a week for four weeks then goes down to once a week. His back and tushey looks 100 times better and he's not scratching his skin all the time. The vet thought he has either a kind of eczema or a skin allergy. He took scrapings to check everything from parasites to skin infections and everything came back clear. Hope his skin continues to improve and doesn't go back to the way it was.
