Sphynx REFUSES to not pee everywhere

My sphynx is VERY inbred and has astronomical anxiety. I try to make sure he is loved enough, has access to his water fountain, good food quality and variety, and is entertained. Throughout his life he had struggled with peeing in his litter box. I've tried everything. I test his urine, no infection, I moved his food to the place he peed (he just peed in a new place), new litter (no difference), different litterboxes (nothing). I also clean them 2x a day (2 cats now, but even whrn I just had him). The problem is he just gets worse and worse. We have moved a couple times and every time he adopts good bathroom behavior. But slowly he will start peeing next to the litterbox. I used to keep a crate floor insert under the litterbox to cut down on mess, he started peeing on that and wouldn't stop. So I got resigned to cleaning that all the time. Eventually, however, he just started peeing everywhere. This move he did fine for a week. Lots of love, settled in nice, no big issues. The litter box is the kind that is a dome with a ramp entry (I keep the top off), well week 2 I notice he's peeing in the ramp. So last week I went away on business, and I know this is stressful, but he is being watched and cared for. When I come back he's being peeing I the ramp, and I suspect everything else as he attempted to just squat and pee in the middle of the floor. I'm at my wits end. One could say it's stress, but this is consistently happening without stress. I know it is somehow behavioral because he repeatedly develops good behavior that worsens. I've adopted pee pads which work for awhile, but he always just ends up peeing everywhere. Insight is appreciated. I partially believe this is part of his inbreeding. I'm planning on getting anxiety cbd oil tomorrow for cats. Anybody know if this is effective? I'm debating between sprays, wall emitters, kitty prozac, and edibles/drops. Or a combination. I really want to work this out.

Thank you guys!

I defudefini think this is an anxiety thing as well have you spoken to your vet about medicating him?

It is rough. Our girl had an issue...one off peeing outside the box not consistently, but when she did I knew it was stress related. Are you cleaning the spots with enzymatic cleaners like Natures Miracle? If not they continue to pee in the same areas. We bought Feliway diffusers, calming collars and we now have her on Prozac. Thankfully it is working. I’d partner up with your vet. It takes a few weeks for the meds and calming products to start working.

@Shontae , is your boy neutered ? How old is he ?
Did the vet rule out any urinrary tract infections or bladder stones?
They often do a urninary test by cystiocentesis method which also provides additional info like blood in urine ,
Urine oxalate or struvite crystals .
Blood panel test to check kidney function?

A good product for cleaning is Anti icky poo unscented with the purple label - supposed good for kitty pee Anti-Icky-Poo - Anti-Icky-Poo Unscented - Anti Icky Poo

They have carpet injectors etc available with the product
Anti-Icky-Poo is recommended by veterinarians more than any other product

If all medical possibilities are ruled out
I would discuss with your vet perhaps anti anxiety medication like Buspirone etc

Surely others will chime in
We are here for you

Positive vibes your way

I dont know if this will help or not. I had a 3 year old highly intelligent intact male rescue that didn't really spray so much as just squatted like a girl in inappropriate areas.

He liked affection. He liked cat toys. But even with enzymes /calming pgeremones, etc used he would sometimes randomly squat in the floor. Vet said after many $ and tests he was fine. Might be anxiety or territorial as stray cats in the hood wander from a neighbor that won't alter.

So i found out he LOVED a certain cat treat. Every time he used the box, i would praise him and pet him extra and give him treats. Within 2 months he was over 75% better. It got to the point that he would "use" the box (or just scratch around) and meow to get more treats if he thought he wanted more treats. Lol. It took time, but he was pretty smart.

My step mom took in a cat from a neighbor that said she was fine. Just shy. To this day ( 14 years later) she cant doodle inside the box. We figured out later that the household had many undisciplined children that among other things, broke her tail in a couple places. The neighbor said they declawed her because she scratched things. ... i would have scratched too...those kids...were i that cat. We couldn't figure out how to help bear. She is much better but still never cant figure out how to use the box consistently. And if shes stressed its 10x worse. Shes nearing her rainbow bridge so i hope she finds the peace she didnt get as a kitten.

So, sometimes you can find the right combo and it clicks for them. Sometimes no matter what you do, they still do it. Keep trying and be patient . I have heard of people using behavior specialists with success too.

I'm going to take him in. But I don't think it is. I got him CBD oil and he's as calm as a cucumber. He stopped for a couple weeks but he's back at it again! So frusterated. I've tried/ tested it all. I legit think it's a mental health thing. He is very inbred.

I started CBD and it has been wonderful, but maybe I'll ask about prozac. I just didn't want to do that if avoidable. I do clean with cleaners. I've moved a couple times and started off with everything prefect to discourage it but after 2-3 weeks always starts again. I'm planning a vet visit, and getting him out on walks to get him some exercise and sunshine and new stimulation.

Thanks for the cleaner suggestion! I'll need it. He just started in the new place. He's on CBD and even with no anxiety does it. I've tested kidneys before and he was fine, but I'm talking him in to have a full set of tests and a long talk with the vet. At this point, liked I mentioned in my other response, I genuinely think this is a mental health or cognitive thing.

I am kind of at the point where I think it's just something he's going to do. I'm redesigned to never leaving ANYTHING on the floor (he'll pee on anything, today he peed on his beloved cat house which is something new and seems territorial) , and I'm getting laminates floors. I'm really hoping he doesn't need confined to one area when I'm not home. He is a sensitive creature and I'm trying to adapt to be etat he needs. He and I have had to move more than I'd like the last year, so I know he needs extra care and compassion. He really is closer to having a small child than I'd thought was possible in a cat. But he deserves happiness, so we'll plug away! Thanks everyone!

It is amazing!! I cannot stress it enough. I just give it as needed. He was constantly running around anxious and when he is like that I can see his little mind whirring away. I recently realized he has separation anxiety (I literally do not know how I did not see that), and he used to lick neurotically all day and night. The CBD immediately calms him. To the point where he just immediately slows down and chills. The most important thing is he is happier. I actually don't have to give it to him as much after a couple of weeks and I don't know if thats because he is having calm moments that he can carry on himself or what. But he even let's me give it to him, and I doubt it tastes good. Both my cats don't mind taking it and sometimes want to. It's such a miracle oil. They also have more potent oil for disease and pain. Love the oil just didn't stop peeing for my cat, but as I suspected it isn't anxiety related lol.

@Shontae ,How much CBD did you give. And what kind. I ve given mine hemp rx but I don’t think it helps. She seems anxious and high strung. She has always kind of been like this, just seems worse now. Maybe because I’m working more?
