Sphynxlair Not closing…see last post for newest update

Hello, it saddens me to say that we can no longer afford to keep the Sphynxlair website open. As of September 17th the Sphynxlair website will be forever closed. We still have our Facebook group with over 16,000 members strong Sphynx Cat Club (by Sphynxlair) | Facebook. It was a fantastic and memorable ride with all of you for 13 special years. I wish you, your family and your sphynx and other pets well.

Thanks Tom for the fun run. I hope all of you who are very active in the community join the FB group so we can stay in touch etc. Also I will keep bumping this thread so those members who are not always active will hopefully see this news as it will be pretty shocking for some to no longer find it when they try to get on.

I will still plan on doing some Zoom video calls in hopes to stay more connected with those who have joined them in the past couple of years. Please email my personal email [email protected] if you want me to invite you to them. I will definitely hold one before the end of the year. Then I can better store the emails and make a distribution list for the invites. Also you will have my personal email should you have any questions or concerns as well as joyful news to share with me.

Wishing everyone purrs and peace…let’s enjoy the last couple of weeks we have left in this amazing community.

Tom and all my SL loves…Thank you for the kindest safest space that I could ever imagine online. So chock full of information and concern for others… such a family. Just a heads up to all, I am backing up several of the top topics/info from the forum and will be transferring it over to the FB group to be stored over there so people can research there under a tab I created called guides. I know the “stickies” in this community are utilized often. I asked the moderators to share what topics they felt they used most often in helping others. So far I have been able to get all but one they recommended due to format etc. I will transfer the info to FB after the forum shuts down. @pussiette

I know some of you just don’t use FB, but you can always reach out to me via email (posted above) and I will gladly research and help you.

Have you considered a Patreon or similar? I don't do Facebook but would be happy to contribute to keep the forum open.

This is very sad news, we've only been Sphynx owners for 8 months but this forum has been so much help. I've applied to join the Facebook page so will hopefully be able to keep in touch with some of you.

I would be happy to contribute monthly via a subscription based model, e.g. like other members suggested Patreon or something on this site itself.

I'm also willing to help in technical ways if needed, since my day job is being a full-stack web developer. Be it in development, or be it in an advisory role. I started doing web development 13 years ago. It could be an option to move over to a cheaper web hosting service, while hosting via free forum software like Simple Machines Forum (I've used this in the past for some communities). I know XenForo licenses can be quite costly.

When I first had Sphynx kittens in my life, this forum helped me a lot. Also the ability to find relevant information about Sphynx cats via Google and ending up here is invaluable.

Oh say it isn’t so. This forum has been a lifesaver. It was a place to turn to and ask questions without any judgement. It was a place of community and comfort in difficult times. A place of joy and a place to share with fellow sphynx people. I was able to adopt my duo since the passing of Agnes from this forum. I have loved this forum for the past 8+ years and will surely miss it.
I’m not on Facebook much anymore as I had to step away for my mental health. (Too much sadness and heartbreak in rescue these days)

For those not on facebook but wanting to stay in touch: how would you feel about a chat group in telegram (kind of like whatsapp)? I heard their are good options in telegram to share things. I'm not really into telegram but if people are interested, I can look into it!
