We recently had to get a new roof. The roofer missed one small piece of facia (sp?) board and we had a squirrel move into our attic. Our son was over Friday evening and had an extension ladder. He boarded up the hole. Saturday we woke up to a very pi_____ed off squirrel. It would sit on our roof and shriek at my husband everytime he went outside. My husband being the softie he is worried that the squirrel was a "she" and had babies in our attic. Since we don't have an extension ladder, he backed his truck in and put a regular ladder in the bed and I held onto the ladder to keep it from coming out of the truck bed. (At this point our neighbors already think we are nuts, so what the heck) He got the piece of wood off and listened for babies (of course we have NO IDEA IF BABY SQUIRRELS EVEN MAKE NOISES). He didin't hear anything so he put the board back in place. Well yesterday he was washing his truck and that little darling squirrel threw the piece of wood at him! I was laughing so hard I almost peeed my pants. Squirrel = 1 , humans =0. We have decided to leave the wood off- we are probably going to have to replace wiring that the little rodent tears up, but hey, a baby is a baby!

Holy Crap that is hilarious! My brother climbed a small tree once and a squirrel was in it. He was about 10 years old and tried to climb up to it. It came running at him full force and he jumped down with the squirrel running right behind him. The squirrel didn't catch him but it was awesome watching him run from such a small crazy creature!:LOL::LOL:

This is going to sound really cold, but I would put the wood back up and leave it. We lived with squirrels and birds in the attic for the past 10 years. We could not keep them out. You would be laying in bed and you could hear the scratching of all of them up there. or the running around. NO THANKS.
And thats not including all the urine/ feces that we have had to clean up from them. After awhile, the house just reaks from it. Or what if they got into the house? The wiring can caause a fire hazard, just not worth it to me. Sorry

We had a pet squirrel once, found it as an injured baby...used to run up you leg and sit on your shoulder while you fed it chocolate...unfortunately one day my uncle came in and it ran up his leg and he fell over and squished it! The funny thing was his name was squashie!!:LOL: I know it sounds heartles and he was upset but you can't help but laugh at the irony!!!
