Today is 9 years since I lost my Stripe to CRF.
We found a bunch of feral kittens in 1989 and I tamed Stripe and kept her.
At age 4 I found a lumpin her brest and it had cancer cells in it.
The vet removed her breast and all the tissue around it and she was ok after that.
In Nov 1998 I found out she had ARF and severe anemia at the er vet.
She was saved with a few blood transfusions.
We though she was ok after that.
When she was 1o we found out she had CRF.
The vet gave her a year to live.
On Sept 26th 2000 my family found her on the floor and she wa not able to move at all.
She could flick her tail only.
Just after midnight Sept 27th 2000 the er vet called and said she should be pts.
I said give me alittle time and my bf will call back.
She was pts between 12:15 and 12:20 am.
I never said goodbye and do not now if I dd the right thing because I have heard of other cats getting better after being like that.
She was 11.
She was not a sphynx.
Here is a poem I wrote in her memory.

Jacky, your poem was so touching, it made me cry. Of course you did the right thing by letting her go. I had to make that decision in November with my dog, Virgil. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done and a piece of me died with him. Four months later I had to do it again with Harold.

I always wonder if it's going to get easier and if the sadness will ever go away, but I can see that 9 years later you are still heartbroken over losing Stripe. I'm so sorry.

*hugs*

Thanks,
Her poem is in the SEBN.
I believe it was in the first or 2nd edition.
One of my other poems is in there also.
Sorry about your dog.
My Yoshi and Stormy were pts within 40 days of each other.
I am not good writing poem anymore though.
The first days are on the aniv of them dying and the bdays.
Sorry for making you cry.

I'm so sorry for your loss  I know how you feel about wondering if you did the right thing. I often thought I had given up on Midnight, but then I remember what he was going through and I KNOW I made the right decision. You did too. It takes a wonderful mother to know when it is the right time, never doubt yourself.

Oh my, I also cried. I just lost my little Senor Buster DelGato on Memorial Day. It all happened so fast. He was fine by noon, I had him at the vet by 1 & by 2:30 she advised me to pts. He had a saddle thrombus. She said the only kitty she had saved after this had both his hind legs amputated & I just couldn't bear the thought of him going through that.
So sorry for your loss, thanks for sharing your poem with us.
