Hi guys, I was on night shift and Binky has just woke me up and she has a swollen eye! Unsure if it’s due to trauma, allergies or infection!

This morning she was hyper so we played for a few hours and she is clumsy and while we where chasing each other she missed the drawers but seemed fine after it, and never noticed her banging her head or she may have a spot coming there and it’s making her eye swell, as her skin is still really bad and thats after 22 days on meds!

Got a vet apt for 3.45pm so just watching her as she is shuting her eyes as it must hurt! Are they anything I can do until then? Should I put a cold compress on her eye? Like we do humans?

Attached some pictures of her skin and one of her eye, going request a referral for skin specialist as if this med didn’t work the only option my vet has is steroids and I would like to try everything before I have to give her daily steroids! Xxx

@Staceyxxx oh Binky you are keeping your mum on her toes ! Glad your eye will be okay

I would ask the vet / specialist to rule out uticaria pigmentosa we have seen on some lair babies

Did the vet give any drops or ointment for her eye?

Healing head smooches and a big hug to you

Following closely for updates

Oh I will do, I will note that down, as I don’t think I will be able to pronounce it properly :0 no he never gave us drops, he put orange liquid in her eye and checked it with a torch, I told him I put a hot compress on her eye before I came n he said I can do that until the swellen goes down, but it was Ok! Not heard from the skin clinic today so hoping they will call tomorrow...! Honestly she is some girl, but I would t have it any other way..! Bless sending love and head smooches to your babies {=

glad to hear that you have an appointment with a skin specialist. I just took Agnes to a dermatologist and we did allergy testing (blood test) she is highly allergic to grasses, trees and weeds. I take her back for some additional testing on 02/19 and we are going to start allergy serum injections. Hopefully, your vet will help with Binky!

So we attend the skin specialist clinic today, Binky is getting a biopsy of her skin so there taking 2 pieces of skin and they will have to knock her out for a few hours and she will have 1 stitch in each bit they remove! The vet will allergy test each piece of skin and then form a plan from that! Xxxx

@Staceyxxx sending positive vibes. Binky will be fine. You can ask if you can stay eith her the whole (if you can stand it yourself). My boy had 5 biopts taken. When he woke up he was "acting drunk" for an hour or so. He had to wear a jumper and that was what he hated. But otherwise he was fine. Hope the biopts will show what is causing the allergy.
Toa has a skin disease named Uticaria Pigmentosa.

Thanks so much, this gives me hope, just pray we will get the answer and get her skin better! Bless Toa, is he on medication for uticaria pigmentosa? Have you got it under control? i think it is this through reading on here and on the net, but need to get it confirmed!

Oh Binky is the same she hates clothes and walks like a toddler :ROFLMAO: wee shame but she can’t wear a collar, I have tried the cone and the soft one and with both she ended up with a rash on her neck n can get out of the plastic one, she’s a ninja!
Sending love to u n ur kitty’s xxx:love:

@Staceyxxx to get the uticaria pigmentosa under control the vet described a high doses of prednison. After two weeks all rash was gone and his skin was perfect. I could then lower the dose to see what doses he needs to keep it under control. I now give him 1 prednison pill a day. Less is not possible unfortunally. But he does well!

All fingers and paws crosssed for Binky
