Hi there! I will be getting my first sphynx cat in 25 days, and I'm trying to do as much ahead of time planning so that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Should I be taking him to the vet as soon as I get him for a checkup?

Yes! I booked a vet appointment for the day after our two arrived. Usually in your contract, the sphynx's health is guaranteed for 72 hours. Sometimes the contract states that you need to do this. So having a vet visit within the first 3 days is a wise move, just in case.

Hi and welcome to the lair! It's always a good idea to get any pet a check up within 72 hours of getting them especially if there are any other animals in the house. I took Pip to the vet the day after we got her since it was 9 pm by the time we got home, so we immediately quarantined her. Our contract said to get a vet visit within 72 hours of bringing them home, so I would book an appointment in general and also read over your contract.

Welcome. I actually took ours to the vet on the way home from the breeder. I felt better knowing before I brought them into the house with possible exposure to our existing cat family. I asked for fecal sample kit and the took that the next day. Just read your contract to make sure you follow guidelines for their first wellness visit.

I would.. when I got my baby it was required within 48 hours to make his health contract effective....its also nice because they will weigh him and stuff and they will keep a copy of his shot records in case your like me and misplaced them somewhere....when I first took kairo to the vet he was 4 pounds...he went for the 2nd time last week and he now weights 10 pounds!!! ....hope you visit goes well and good luck to u and your new baby!!

I took my baby on the Monday after we got him. Most contracts require you to do so and also helps give a peace of mind. Make sure to find a vet you trust and has experience, someone who can share and explain more about sphynxs is a great help!

Btw welcome!!!

Mr Loki has an appointment to go see the vet the day after he arrives.. I've heard so many horror stories of people finding things out after they get their sphynx home, so I want to make sure my little man is healthy from the getgo! I should have more pictures to share with everyone throughout the weekend!

Yes always do a vet check within 48-72 hours or however your contract reads. It's best for your own peace of mind. @Catzzzmeow had a great suggestion going straight to the vet. And @zoinks also. Great advise here on the lair
Congrats
Can't wait to see pictures of your baby owning you. ;)
