I decided on January 1st of this year I would start to crochet a temperature blanket. This is how it works:

In the City I live, in any given year the temperatures can range from +30 Celsius to -30 Celsius. I have assigned yarn Colors to ranges of temperatures. For example -3 to -30 have been assigned 4 different hues of purple. -2 to +3 have been assigned beige. +4 to +30 have been assigned 4 different hues of blue. I have a total of 9 different Colors of yarn.

Every morning when I wake up I check the temperature for the day and take the projected high. That is the color of yarn I will use for that row. I will crochet one row each day. At the end of the year I will have an interesting blanket. Today when I got up the temperature high is -28 Celsius. I looked at my chart and the color yarn I have assigned to -24 - -30 is called Grape Punch. That will be my row today.

I will post a picture at the end of each month for those of you who might be interested. I think it is a fun idea. The hardest part was choosing yarn Colors.

Here is my blanket from January 1 to January 10.

I tried making one of these just after my total knee replacement surgery! It was 2020 and when COVID struck, I made some rows in black to represent the first weeks of that. It didn't come out very well because I was loopy on pain meds so the blanket was narrower and wider in spots  but it's cool that I made it in 2020 and you could see what week COVID hit us.

A nice way to mark history. I have been thinking of starting blankets on each of my grandchildren’s birthdays and giving them as gifts the next year. But I have six grandchildren so I should see if I like doing this blanket before thinking of tackling another! Can I see a picture of your blanket? Thanks!
