He decided he was going to EAT an entire loaf of bread along with the plastic it was wrapped in!!!!! what the heck is he thinking i mean they have an automatic food dispenser so he isn't going hungry he has been doing this alot this week he even ate through a brand new chip bag and ate the chips!!! none of my other cats do this they just kinda sit back as if to say "Hey man your gonna get in big trouble for that" but he doesn't care he thinks he owns the place, he did a run by and stole part of a pb&j sandwich from the baby yesterday, what am i gonna do he is soooo bad!!!! here is the pictures...and yes it was a brand new loaf of bread and that's all that's left he must of needed it to go with the spagetti i caught him eating off the stove, which by the way turns his poop into spagetti sauce that he pooped all over my bathroom floor because he filled up the litter box with it *sigh* :Hysterical:

Lovinsphynx, I hope he's just being a bad boy, but I have to ask - is he drinking a lot of water or using the litter box any more than normal?

To answer your question Brooke yes he eats everything, and will drink and drink he even tries to drink our drinks i fill up an ice cream bucket with water plus they have an automatic water dispenser and by the next day i have to fill them up, I have to clean the litter boxes everyday and he goes to the bathroom about 7 or 8 times a day why do you ask?

Well, first, let me clarify - I don't want to scare you or anything. I have a personal experience that your story reminded me of, so i just felt like I should mention it to you, just in case...

It does sound like he's drinking more water than normal. I also have an automatic water dish, and with 4 cats I have to refill it every 3 or 4 days.

The bread story reminded me of my dog. He developed a voracious appetite and started stealing food. Just like RayRay, he would steal entire loaves of bread off the counter and eat the whole thing. One time, he took a pizza box out of the trash and ate the bottom of the box because it tasted like pizza. At first I thought nothing of it, thought he was just being bad, but then he was drinking excessive amounts of water and started having accidents in the house. It turned out that he had Cushing's Disease. Now, I know I'm comparing dogs to cats, apples to oranges, but it's even more bizarre to me that a cat would eat a loaf of bread. Cat's aren't generally interested in bread. I can put a piece of bread on the floor in front of mine and they won't touch it (unless I put some tuna or cheese on it, too!).

It seems to me that it might be worth having some blood work/urinalysis done just to make sure there isn't an underlying cause for his excessive appetite & thirst. Cushing's Disease, like Virgil had, I understand is rare in cats, but there are other common things that can cause it, including diabetes and hyperthyroidism. All can be diagnosed or ruled out with a quick visit to the vet and always better to catch it early.

That is A very good point and better safe than sorry!
Mine do steel off of our plates but it has to be something good, not just bread!
I would get it checked out that way you have peace of mind and can catch it early if it is something!

So much for obligate carnivore.

Do you think Ray-Ray just finally cracked on his South Beach diet and HAD to have some carbs?

Hopefully, nothing deeper is going on. I know both myself and a coworker have come home and found a package torn open just to see what's inside, maybe a nibble, nothing more.

I did have a DSH who was a tiny, stunted thing with a super huge attitude that used to walk up to a dinner plate and drag a chicken breast away. You were always very careful to give her a taste to keep her busy so you could grab a mouthful yourself.
