Hello,

I'm new here and looking for help for Rihmeek (8 months). I've read a few threads about discolouration around the bum but I haven't seen any posts about the thighs and belly.

Our vet thinks he's allergic to beef and fish, we've taken him off that and were giving him Stella & Chewie's Freeze dried chicken, which he loved. The discolouration didn't go away and he had a little redness and inflammation.

Vet put him on Purina Hypoallergenic vet kibble which contains a bunch of filler, wheat, corn, hydrolyzed chicken and now it's made it worse. I tried to give him raw rabbit supplemented with taurine but he wouldn't go near it.

Any suggestions? Photos attached.

@Rihmeek604 , welcoming you and baby Rihmeek to the lair family.. type of litter used ? some are sensitive to scented litters, corn, wheat based litters? members will surely chime in . @Toa and Ross .

It looks like classic yeast overgrowth to me. Litter is usually the culprit but it could certainly be the food, too.

Thank you so much! I will try fixing his litter. The vet told me it wasn’t the litter but I’m not sure I trust them

Assuming it’s yeast, you will also want to treat it with a medicated shampoo.

How is it looking today?
