Hi, does anyone have experience with a constantly meowing Sphynx?

We're thinking of getting the ThunderShirt for anxiety as seen here:

Maybe this product will help or maybe we'll ask the vet if we can use some kind of calming supplements or meds.

I've posted here several times about this topic. It's probably a Sphynx trait, but our cat meows too much. He's in fine health, just got a check up, but he always meows at us and it's very distracting and hard to deal with. His bowl is full... he meows. He stands outside our door or across the room... he meows loudly, almost wailing. We play with him, it stops a bit, but he'll start up again soon enough.

Thanks.

Rankle is the same with making constant noise, and as you say, it's very distracting. I haven't found anything that will make him stop (maybe he just likes the sound of his own voice) so can't offer advice but if you find the thunder shirt works please let me know. Good luck!

All of ours are pretty vocal only 2 of them are really screamers and it can drive me nuts LOL. I’d try Feliway diffusers just to see if it helps.

Yeah they do seem to love their own voice haha. I ordered the shirt and will report back on how it goes.

I’ve had a lot of luck with clothes in general helping to keep things calm. I did buy a thundershirt for a previous cat and she could not tolerate it so she just wore regular shirts. If the thundershirt does not work out, don’t give up. Just try some regular clothes.

Thanks.

So far the Thundershirt isn't really doing much... he'll be quiet for a bit but then he'll be anxious and meow to get the Thundershirt off lol. So I may just return it and try using regular shirts again.

His meows are sometimes like howls. Like he wants something, but if I play with him or pay him attention, it'll solve the meowing for a bit but then he'll start up again.

I'm trying to see if there's a set pattern. He'll do it a lot when we get back home if we've been out for a little while. But it's not just then -- he'll do it randomly when we're home also. The weird thing is, if he needs or wants something, why can't he just come right up to us and meow? But he'll meow from across the room, or heading upstairs, or whenever... really hard to figure out how to deal with this.

How old is your sphynx? My girl Jade is almost 9 years old and lately she is meowing and howling a lot. Specially when she is in a different room as I am. The vet says it's caused by dementia. Poor thing doesn't always know where she is or where I am so she howls and meows.

Wow that’s horrible if true. How did the vet determine that?

Chester is 8.

My Toly does all that too. Usually when he’s wanting to get in somewhere, but he absolutely does it for no good reason too. Cats are weird.
