Hi all!!!!!!!

I have started training Ripley to use the toilet.
I'm in stage one. The litter box is now level with the toilet.
Next comes www.citikitty.com

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

When I was a kid we had a siamese that used the potty, but would only pee in it, not poo. A couple of years ago we bought a product like this to toilet train our cats, it didn't work, because our ragdoll was too heavy and kept falling through it. It was flimsy plastic, one cat did great, but one would not poo on it, and we gave up. I think if your cat is young and you are only traing one at a time you have a greater chance of success. Good luck to you!

Just saw your post...I am doing the same with Jazelle. She is doing really well. I am also using citikitty! Jazelle is on the last stage and I hope to have her done by the end of the week. She has been on it about a month now.

I'm just curious... Once the talented little kitties are trained, do they go to ANY toilet or just they one they were trained on?? :)

Just thought I'd give an update on the toilet training, it's going pretty slow and I have my dad staying here monitoring while he's on vacation :)
Right now I am where Meecho's leg was falling in the toilet with the big hole out of the center (in the previous youtube post by kalliee. Ripley seems to be doing so far so good. She has no issues with leg placing or squatting. I should try to post some video. I'm thinking by the end of next week I should be litter free!
The only thing I am concerned about it when I take her to my office, I need to use a litter box! Oh no! I'm wondering if that will confuse her more..

Kaci has also started toilet training, and we are using CittiKitty as well! :) So far she's doing great, no accidents. We are in the beginning stages... She's using the toilet but there are no openings yet... Good luck everybody!!

I'm also curious about what she'll do when we take her places... Hmmm.....

Ok so I have an issue.
She was doing OK there for a bit but now she refuses to go #2 in the toilet.
#1 no problemo, #2 very big issue. Runs around the house meowing, scratching, almost in agony.
Any suggestions?
Should I put the kit back in the toilet?

This must be a really common problem. I tried toilet training many years ago and never could get Mr. Witty to go #2 in the toilet. I ended up scrapping the whole plan and going back to litter boxes because of it. But, I was also being really impatient because we only had one bathroom...I'd try going back to the kit if you've got the patience to keep working at it!

Kaci doesn't like going #2 either.. I just shut the door and stay in the bathroom with her. We play with toys and work on sitting, and every few minutes I'll put her in there and tell her to go poop. It takes a lot of patience but it's working... She went all by herself this morning with no coaxing from me! :) Oh yeah... she gets lots of praise and treats when she goes also, treats and nip always readily available above the toilet! :)

Thanks you guys for your input!
I put the citikitty back to stage one with no holes in my first bathroom.
I need to be home more to be able to have the time to sit with her.
Until April 16th citikitty will be in the toilet!

You did the right thing. I ended up going back to stage one after a failed attempt with stage two and after about another week went back to stage two and it was a success. EXCEPT for going poop. She peed perfectly but wasn't going poop and I couldn't figure out if someone was cleaning the toilet trainer before I saw it or if there was a problem. Well after scrapping everything I found the problem. About three weeks of poop in my formal dining room:LOL: I still have everything and I swear I'm gonna try it again but now my 16 year old cat is using Meecho's litter box and I just think she's too old to try potty training...or maybe I'm just scared of her and what she would do to me if I tried to train her at this age:Laugh:

I started using the litter quitter right before christmas. The first stage was fine but then on the orange stage Twitch pooped on the floor so went back to the red. I finally got them both using the orange with the hole in the middle. Tux has a problem with hanging his but to close to the edge and peeing on the floor. I have cut a bigger hole in the red one because the difference between the orange and green is really large. So now there is one with a bigger hole and they are not liking it. Put it on before for a day and they didn't go and then put the orange back up and they both ran up and did both right away. They have not peed since this am. I have a video camera set up and they just can't seem to get comfortable. I am scared to leave them go too long with out peeing or pooping. I just don't want to find a mess somewhere else in the house or have any medical issue from holding it too long. I was really hoping to get rid of litter but not so sure now. Starting to ponder the litter robot.

That was what my BIG problem with the litter quitter was. The change in the hole from the second to the third was just so drastic. When I attempt this again I have an idea and you may want to try it out. I've decided to put a piece of clear plastic wrap on the under side of the hole and sprinkle a little bit of litter on it so that way they will feel comfortable and get used to it without falling in the hole. I have no idea if it will work, but that is my plan. WHEN I decide to takle this again.

Yeah it is a tough one. They do have some intermediate rings you can order, We just cut the red one out a bit bigger than the orange, I guess there is no going back. The both peed and pooped last night so I was happy. They really seem to need the litter, everytime I add some they use it. Having to work all day I just worry they will hold it. I am going to give it a few months more and then decide. You should look into the intermediate discs, I think they are like $15 and it gives you two extra steps so it is not so drastic.

Good luck

My Sphynx was doing great, toilet training with "litter Quitter". We had to stop though because my older domestic shorthair cat wouldnt co operate and started pooping and peeing all over the house.....I was very sad about having to go back to a litter box when my sphynx was almost trained! I think my other cat was just too mature or stubborn. When he passes away we will try toilet training again. I packed the litter quitter away in the attic for now....

Wow...they are doing great! I have only got one bathroom, so I think it wouldn't be very convenient to do--but living without litter boxes is like the impossible dream.
