Nelson went BACK to the vet today to have his eye checked...remember, he had an ulcer last time, most likely a result of conjunctivitis from FHV. He'd been on antibiotic eye drops (tobramycin) and atropine drops. No infection today but the ulcer is still there - in fact, it's getting worse. For whatever reason, his eye is not healing itself.
So, we drew blood and the vet made a serum out of his blood and baytril that I have to give him every 2 hours (in addition to the other 2 eye drops he's already getting). Thank god he's a good patient and lets me do anything to him or this would be a nightmare!
Fingers crossed that Nelson's own blood serum will do the trick, because the next stop is to visit the ophthalmologist for corneal scrapings and who knows what other painful and expensive treatments...
