I have a sphynx who is 5 months old and i need to get her shots done. I have heard that there are some vaccine's that the sphynx breed can't have. I dont know which one's they cant have, but i know they need some vaccine's. I have also heard that some vet doctor's are very unfamiliar with the breed, and have no clue what to do, and the best thing is to look up fact's about your sphynx breed and take it to the vet with you. If anyone has any information about what vaccine's they need please let me know.

I don't know of vaccines that are bad for Sphynx specifically, -- but there are are ones that most breeders recommend against for any cat. I'm sure some others here will pipe up

I know other members will have more specific advice, but some breeders/owners do not recommend the FeLV vaccine, and if your state requires the rabies vaccine the heated is better than the live.

Hopefully others with post the brand names as I can't remember them off the top of my head right now.

this is for all cats.
Do not give the leukemia shot it killed my Lucy Aug 20th 1993 which is today and I still do not forgive myself for letting her get the shot.
It also voids the breeders contracts on most breeders contracts if you get that shot.
I would get the 3 in 1 purvax distemper and the the purvax 1 year rabies shot if that is a law in your state.
The breeders of my cats use the purvax because it is safer for sphynx.
My vet had to ask cleos breeder where to get the 3 in 1 distemper last year.

hi, sorry this is in lower case but peaches is on my arm and can't be moved of coarse, lol.

i know that a lot of breeders state in their contract that no feline leukemia vac is safe. for rabies, i think the safe one is called pure-vac or something similer.

of course they also need one for distemper, calici virus , panleukapenia and another one i can't remember the name of -usually in a 3 or 4 vac combo in one shot.

never ever, ever give the fip one. i've read that its deadly.

i just ordered enough doses of a intra-nasal vac- gos in the nose, like kennel cough in dogs- to do my four girls and give two to my friend for her two. legally only rabies has to be given by a vet. i just need to save the stickers off of the bottles as proof and for info, date etc.
i hope this was of some help to you and i promise i don't usually type this poorly lol:Dizzy:

haha, i see mews2much beat me to it. thats what happens typing w/ one hand lol
