If you are an owner of a dog that belongs to a 'dangerous breed' category and you also have a child or a visiting small child please take this as a warning.

Don't leave your dog with a small child unattended under any circumstances!!!

Only one little moment was enough for the following to happen.

Please view the photo...

 Yep that's my breed of morons! You can't beat a Bull Terrier temperament! The sad thing is Doodie aka padoodimus would love that, he's fancy he'll let you put mascara on him lipstick, file & paint his nails... I have to be careful when I open the cabinet with makeup in it cuz' he will steal it!

They are a handful!:Woo: But best temperament you will ever find! They are like little kegs on legs... they have no idea how big or strong they are!

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Not sure what the breed standard is like in the US but we had English bull Terrier's when I was growing up (I'm British.)

Best dogs ever, funny comedians, loyal etc. One of ours would decide it had enough on walks and would lie down, like a frog and have to be carried home.:Dizzy:

I remember a story in England, about a bull terrier breaking through glass patio doors to save his human children from a fire.:BigSmile:

Best dogs ever, would love to have one here.

I would never not have a Bullie, although you don't see many of them... we always get stopped whenever we go anywhere.

Hey, now my pitbulls resemble this remark! lol.
We have 1 pit... it is my hubby's & that was what i had before him... I always read that Bull Terriers & Pits were similar in personality so when we moved I didn't want the headache of owning a Pit (around Chicago its bad because of all the gangs & crap) so I got 2 Bullies & they are not even close in comparison.... they are sweet dogs but IMO nothing can come close to a Bullie!

My first breed of dog was a Louisiana Catahoula Dog. I got my first taste at age 8 of what it's like to have a dog that works for you, LIVES to please you, is never satisfied until you're satisfied.

For me, as I grew, that taste became insatiable until I rescued my first pitbull, Brogan. This dog is my 3rd arm, my furred soulmate and my first competition dog. I'll post more in another thread here in a few moments, but after seeing what my first pitbull has done---there will never be another breed of dog for me. I FEED off of the hate that comes against this breed--because the more my dogs do to prove others wrong against the stereotype (donating blood and saving lives, being rescues and still beating papered dogs doing the same type of work, etc), the more proud this "pibble" owner becomes. *nose in the air, chest stuck out*

If it's one thing I've learned anything, it's this: It is true that Pit Bulls grab and hold on. But what they most often grab and refuse to let go of is your heart, not your arm.

My last Pit Cinder was a rescue from a fighting ring brought in to the vet I was working to be PTS. She had demodex so bad we could not tell her color, had a phone wire tied around her chest for so long she had a permanent indent in her ribs from when it was removed & was doused in gasoline.... it took months of medical treatments to get her well. She was a good dog, certified for therapy, donated blood for others as Trouble has never weight pulled her as I do not like it, She was my last Pit (with the exception of my hubby's) I was introduced to Bull Terriers by a friend who is a breeder & from there I will never not have a Bull Terrier. Pits are good dogs; but around Chicagoland most cities frown upon them, some insurance companies will not insure you...my parents neighbors had 2 Pits & our city made them get rid of them. Everyone has their one breed we can not do without... as to each is own.

Great story sami, sounds like you have A great dog!!!
Here in NJ you can not get homeowners ins if you have A pitbull?
Not fair and another reason why they have such A bad rap.. Hell my cousin has A maltese theat will bite your foot off as soon as you walk in the door, but its fluffy and cute so they insure her?

We have higher homeowners insurance rates here in FL if you have a pitpull. The workaround is to get your pitpull after you buy your house...they never follow up. That's when I got my girl Zoey!

I remember when I worked for a vet, the dogs that were most notorious for biting, and that got muzzled most often were not the "bad breeds", but were -believe it or not - ****er spaniels! At least in a clinic setting, they were the most likely to bite without warning.:Woo:

I seen a Min Pin take the tip of a Vet friend of mine nose off! :Surprise:
I believe it! The worst bite I ever got was from a chihuahua mix. He bit down on my hand and wouldn't let go and I was just hanging from my hand. Another tech had to pry his mouth off of me and I had to go get stitches and a tetanus shot! I was just taking him out of his kennel when he bit me.

I still think cats bites are worse, though!

The worst bite I ever took at work was a Basenji, and it was to my face. I got a black eye, bloody lip and part of my gumline required sutures. Most others have been daushunds, chihuahuas, minature pinschers and like breeds.
