Weight Gain

Hello everyone I have a kitten that will be a year in October she currently has an infection and is on antibiotics, also might have polyp and will need surgery. She has always been really small while our other sphynx is bigger in size and has no problem eating. I'd appreciate if anyone has any advice on what I could add to her diet to help with weight gain or a supplement that could help.

what was her diagnosis , name of meds? is a nose polyp? if so, perhaps she may eat less not being able to smell the food? a question for the vet.

how much does she weigh? (my girl is a tiny petite even into adulthood compared to my others, she is 13 1/2 yrs old now)

what and how much does she eat? members with youngsters will surely chime in.

I know for my bengal cat she was ill and lost weight. I got her some hills a/d urgent care canned food from the vet ( reorder by the case of 24 with disouonts online my vet approves) I give a tablespoon a day and mix with a little water. it is made to be syringeable if needed. I just put in a regular dish with some water to make it slushy. she gained all her weight back over time. You can ask your vet if it would be a good option for her, or the non rx royal canin baby cat canned food that is popular with breeders.

Are you free feeding and what are you feeding them? You can google high caloric weight gain foods. Hopefully that might do the trick.

Hey thanks for responding her name is Storm. They have not gotten a full diagnosis yet she was also having focal seizures but they found her white blood count to be high which points to an infection and she is currently on Zeniquin for the next 7 days and weighs about 6 pounds now. I give her half a can of wet food but she nevers finishes it. Also they are thinking it is eye polyp.

also here is my other baby her name is Sky and she is a couple months older than storm.

I free feed with dry food but she gets half a can of soft food twice a day. Thank you

Welcome to sphynxlair. What a beautiful and cute duo you have. Is she underweight according to the vet? You could try high calory food but with her health issues I would hessitate to change food (changing food can cause tummy issues). Maybe try to give her more wet food during the day?
