Hi there

I have a 19 month old male dwelf, Archie. He shovels food down without chewing much. He has a hanging belly. He was 11lbs 9oz. He is now 10lbs 3oz. I got lots of new toys and cat activities. He loves the door bouncer toy and he plays with it for hours..probably hoping if he can burst it open, dreamies will fall out! I moved him onto a wet only diet with raw mixed in. He was a healthy weight till I put him on dry food. He really piled on weight so fast on kibble! I'd put all 7 cats on kibble to make it easier for my mother in law when she came over to feed and water the cats when we went to Greece then Turkey.

What should an adult male weigh? I thought 9lbs maximum but he's only 1lbs 3oz from that weight and he's still looking obese.

Thank you

Ask your vet for the ideal weight they should weigh…the average weight of female Sphynx is about 6-10 pounds and males 8-12 pounds…depending on their body structure etc. 10 being the normal weight of most males.

@nina666 , great info by catzzzmeow.
do you have pics of Archie.. sharing my boy and others here have the little hanging sphynx belly. found this online :

Sphynx Cat Breed Weight

Given that Sphynx cats don’t have lots of fur, it’s fairly easy to physically examine how they are carrying weight on their bodies. It’s normal for this breed to have a small belly, so don’t be too concerned if you notice a little pouch. Once their belly becomes a bit larger and more pronounced, it’s time to take some action.

My Sphynx Mischa has gained a bit of weight since the beginning of the year as well. His vet was not concerned and said it was fine some months ago, namely because she could still feel all his organs when touching through his torso. However, we feel he is now looking a bit too big and this may cause him difficulty climbing things. Our approach is to reduce the number of feedings or the amount. I do believe some dry food induces more weight gain than others. The only counterproductive issue is that he stays at a cat hotel when we travel where the feeding is all you can eat, and he loves to eat ..
You can check with your vet if the weight is a cause for concern

Hi there, sorry for ridiculously late reply. I didn't realise I had any responses till i thought to check back now! I have one comparison pic of Archie - 11lbs 8oz on the left and 9lbs 8lbs on the right. He has put on slight weight since this comparison. He's now 10lbs exactly. I'm really starting to think he's fine and maybe 9/10lbs is his healthy weight. I have the vets next week for his annual check up on his 2nd birthday Thank you (I don't see the option to add a picture?)

Thank you for your reply and apologies for late reply from me. I had email notifications turned off I have 7 cats so I couldn't put them into a cattery/cat hotel tbh. We are fine leaving them overnight for one night but when we go abroad we get the in laws to come over twice a day. I have this comparison pic of Archie - left is 11lbs 8oz and right is 9lbs 8oz. He is sitting at 10lbs exactly at the moment but we have the vets next week for annual check up. He is 2 on the 15th
