After nearly a year since the passing of Agnes, I welcomed Dolly and Otis to my home last evening. They are settling in and getting used to their new place. Not many pictures just yet as they are still a little nervous. Very understandable after being in new surroundings.
Dolly is hiding under the bed and slowly making little ventures out. Otis is laying on the bed in blankets. He is seeking pets but on his terms. They have the spare bedroom all to themselves. Going to be taking it one step at a time and move at their pace.
Here’s to new beginnings.

Well Dolly ventured out from under the bed and into the closet. She looked pretty comfy on the blankets.
Otis is keeping a watchful eye.

I did get a feliway plug in to hopefully help with any nerves.

Squeeeee…hoping they adjust quickly and open up to your loving home. How are you doing ? I know you are worried about them stressing, but know you are stressing too.

I’m trying not to stress too much. Easier said than done though.
They aren’t eating much but that’s likely due to stress also.
They at least are starting to settle somewhat. Both were out this evening exploring while we were in the room with them.

Getting some morning sun! They are coming out of their shells now. Dolly is super affectionate and comes right up to us seeking attention, purring up a storm and head butting.
Otis is a little slower to come around but does seek attention also.

Aww thanks! I wasn’t sure if sharing the transition would be too much for some. This is the first time I’ve adopted a cat let alone two. I’ve only had Agnes since a kitten and that’s different than bringing in an adult to a new home. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. So far it’s been pretty good. I’m not pressing them too much and am letting them get comfortable on their terms.

@kauna , awh.. so happy you are sharing updates and photos. I adopted Batman and Yoda bonded pair from a member. Batman was more timid reserved, barely ate for days, did drink water . I had them set up in "their room " with their cat trees etc from previous home. Yoda was out and about right away. Batman just slept in his blankie in cat tree. I would sit and talk with him, blinking my eyes at him (kitty communication for comfort so I read). wow, then like a spark, he jumped up after about day 10 and was like a wild child, running around meowing chirping happy happy kitty.

slow and steady wins the race. I transitioned 4 adoptees all within a few months.
Otis and Dolly struck gold with you. I am smiling ear to ear with the adorable photos. bestest mum! hugs n head smooches to all paws.

Well it’s been a week since they’ve been here. Both are warming up and their personalities are starting to show. Otis is a little inquisitive and chatty! Dolly is watchful and lovey dovey. She is playful with toys and he likes his bed.
I took Dolly to the vet on Wednesday just to recheck her eye. She has a scratch and ulcer (I was prepared for but wanted a vet checkup just to be safe) she is 14 lbs Otis I’m guessing is 16. We have some weight to lose lol!

@kauna , awh.. precious. look at them babies! melt my heart.
my Yoda adoptee had a scratch/corneal sequestrum. (posted about in a thread with pics). I got his meds and all cleared up on its own in a couple of months. the Idoxuridine and some other meds ( Yoda was on on Famciclivor 3 x and I-drop Vet Gel eye drops from the eye specialist. the I drop. vet gel non rx got cheaper online and the famciclivor was. a 1/3 of the price. with samsclub plus membership the vet called in rx for met to save money ). all was good , never a reoccurence and no scarring.

oh my! 14 and 16 lbs.. little lovies.. btw, I have the same dishes, those are great
hugs n head smooches to all paws!

They are in the best hands to get them to a fit weight. You gave them the time to know they are safe and meals are regular. So happy they are starting to show their personalities and I hope the eye heals well.

Currently using tobramycin opthalmic solution 0.3% 1 drop twice daily. She’s being so good for her drops once I surprise her lol! Otherwise if she sees the box she darts under the bed the little stinker. We have a recheck visit next week for her eye and an initial visit for Otis. I will be sure to update the weights afterwards (We are already starting a diet)
