@Condo commando quickly read through, remind me to reply tomorrow :3 specially about the bland diet and yeah the kibble has stuff added too. It keeps confusing me why they do that.

The horse part made me chuckle. I can see your point there for sure but the vet said species less know like horse, deer, buffalo etc are good to rule out allergies from more common pets like indeed chicken.

I prefer raw too but I'm still trying to convince the partner for a bigger freezer. But he doesn't wanne put the funds in it and I can't atm due health bills but even besides that, if it's kibble or raw, what ever is best for her is what is important to me.

I love my little pain in the  to bits {=

Oh before I forget, anyone know why my cat sounds like a water bag? When she runs around or jumps or plays it sounds like she's full of water, even if she just went to pee. Is it the mucus? I told the vet but she was -again- clueless. I'm really worried about that sound.

"...the vet said species less know like horse, deer, buffalo etc are good to rule out allergies from more common pets like indeed chicken ..."

This is true. But as I understand it venison has a nutrient profile very similar to what a cat would naturally eat. However, I have read no such thing about buffalo or horse.

I’m inclined to agree about venison being close to wild sourcing. Ellie always does really well on it.

@Sheldon13 it's not me making it up - here is the quote:

"Surprisingly, even though cats would never hunt deer, wild venison is very close nutritionally to a cats' natural prey.⁸

@Yumi that water bag sound leaves me clueless too. It could well be it has something to do with the muscus.
Can your vet make some calls to other vets to ask for advice?

Hmm it's more like when you would wobble a hot water bottle sound then gurgling, assuming gurgling is sort of grawling and stuff like our bowels have when..

And oh god no toa, I fired my vet cause she sucked, still looking for a new one.

Also so sorry for the slow replies, with Safira in heat, me seeing specialists, dentists it's one hell-hectic time at the moment o_o

Btw it's normal her nip's are a tiny bit swollen right? Otherwise I think it's slowly passing, she butt wiggles less and less, also howls less and less. Still didn't go back to full amount of eating, had to throw tons of raw away cause her eating schedule is iffy atm.

Edit; it just jumped into my mind, you know when we drink to much water/soda/anything and roll our tummy. That's the sound I kinda mean she has when she runs around.

For todays update, she's on day 4 of her transition scheduled. So half soaked kibble and half raw to go back to kibble.
Now as a refresher of the mind, on kibble she had blood and mucus, on raw only mucus but always a spoopy butt.
Today she went twice to the litter box since a long time, normally she goes just once a day on the raw.
Which worries me ALOT is that I saw a bit of blood on her butt.
I know it was only a bit but.. You know how easily we get worried about our babies + the past blood kibble issue isn't helping.
The doubt is tearing me apart to continue transition to kibble and pray the blood does't come back once it was or to go back on full raw (turn back and flee) or to call a vet already mid transition.
She's still playful, doesn't drink and eats that much atm but I think it's cause she's still coming out of her heat, no fever, no signs of being ill at all.

My vote would always be to stay on raw. Especially since you already know kibble gives grief.

I don't mean it in a bad way but... there is a reason we're giving kibble another shot, not just for fun or to make it worse for her again.
Still trying my very best to convince my other half for that too so we can get a bigger freezer so we can store raw. -although no clue where to put the freezer yet IF he ever agrees to get one even-

It is hard to find here also unless you order it in very very big online and I simply don't have the freezer space for it.
Don't take it the wrong way but I can't buy for over 100 euro raw so someone would deliver it from far away where they do sell it for cats and throw for 80 euro away cause maybe if I tetris (yes the game) my heart out I may fit 20 euro in our little freezer.
For dogs enough to find in every possible flavor but for cats not, besides that Jolipet that still has vegetables and fruit added to it + the (now ex-) vet wont order the hypo anymore for us. - I've asked several places if they could order for cats to but for one person buying it they always give me a no. :| It's very frustrating. And I'm really doing my best for her.
I don't and never did mind coughing up the money for better food but I am against throwing away and spillage like stated before with the order big and I'm gonne have to throw away a lot just to give her something. That seems ever so wrong.
So that comment nearly got me into tears cause I don't know what else anymore I can do as I'm already doing my very best towards my feeling and reading for advice here.
The only positive is that I may have found a decent vet, but Idk wether to contact her now or when Safira is back on kibble for a few weeks.
Please do not take this the bad way, I know you're trying to help and I appreciate it.
Anyway since I'm crying and it's 4.40 am, guess I'll crawl in bed. Maybe tomorrow is a better day.

I didn’t mean to upset you. I think you are just exhausted by all the effort you have put in. Take a deep breath and remember that you are doing what you can and what you think is best.

As for freezers, I’ve had this one for 4 years and love it. It is a half size freezer but still had plenty of room for raw. Try looking for a 5 cubic feet freezer. That is if you want to try the raw thing again.

This is true.

We threw a bunch of food away from the freezer today for the sole sake to stock it with raw for her, took the kibble to the shelter cause it was a bag of 2.5 KG and maybe there was.. 100 gram out so it would be a shame to go to waste.
Kinda shame but the blood this morning got even worse, I felt cornered like I had no choice.
I have been looking around for a second hand freezer but it's not only the space to put it and finding one new or second hand, atm it's also the funds.

Part of my stress is that this month I've been seeing a (pricey) specialist cause no matter how much I love her, sometimes I'm forced to face and look to my own health too or I can't take care of her anymore.

Edit gonne look that one up right now - don't know the brand and don't think we have that brand here and if Amazone already changed their will they finally deliver in Belgium policy - thanks for the recommendation and so sorry I got upset. It is as you said I know you mean well and good so I'm not mad! I'm just exhausted. Stress can be a very nasty thing.
Edit 2: yikkes.
The 7 one they do deliver but for that price it's maybe better to look for one here to be honest :S
Still got a line of medical bills that'll come and need to be paid so it's gonne be a little bit of puzzling atm.
But the most important is we got food for her, raw food. Due the not really a choice Joli pet untill we can do better. This is at least already better then the kibble again.
Edit 3 it's not polite to ask probably but the price of the 5 cube one, cause Amazone wont show me and I'm curious to compare it against freezers here.
Freezers here cost a lot towards my feeling but most new once have all kinds of trinkets that's simple not needed like ice maker, dishwasher proof and yes I even was one that you can wifi connect... all I could think was but why o_o

@Yumi hugs for you. Sorry you have so much stress with your and your baby’s health issues. Very kind of you to bring the bag with dry food to the shelter. But very sorry to hear the bleeding started again.
About the freezer: maybe look for a second hand freezer? Are you close to the Dutch border or more at the French side?

@Yumi sorry I am late to the conversation
Big hugs to you
Believe me I get it
I swear I went thru with my IBD kitty with food trials amd dealing with my own medical bills etc
I swear I spend more on vet visits amd food than my own -
I finally ended up findinga Kibble that worked -

what was the first vets actual diagnosis of Safira?
Is the bloody stool bright red or dark colored ?
Some, times thst can help with what part of bowels are inflamed

I kmow I am coming in late to the conversation but I personally would consider a visit to the new vet-
I highly recommended calling her current vet and getting a copy of her chart for your records -
This way you can take it to the new vet

Sometimes a fresh set of eyes by a different vet may help before the time and investment of a freezer etc

I kmow how exhausting the food trials are amd often it takes at least 12 weeks om a food to see results -
I was sooo stressed dealing with my kitties IBD amd having to prioritize my health tests amd theirs

My vet is in agreement with taking one step a time -
I feed the best I can afford and have to keep it all in perspective or it can get overwhelming -

You have to take care of your health too!

Please let me know what her actually diagnosis was?

Big hugs to you ! and head smooches
Bless you for donating to the shelter
You have a big heart

She has the best of love amd care

following closely for updates
Sending a lair full of positive vibes for your health and Safira

Here is some stool information

“What does blood look like in my cat’s poop?

Blood in a cat’s poop can be challenging to identify. For starters, litter can sometimes alter the color and conceal – or create – changes in appearance. If the blood originates in the lower intestinal tract, especially the distal colon (large intestine) or rectal region, it will most likely look like, well, blood. Red or pink drops or smears are frequently discovered on the sides of the litter box and on top of the stool or litter.

Blood from higher in the intestinal tract, particularly the small intestine, will be black or brown. This color change is due to partial digestion by enzymes secreted in the small intestine. This blood will often appear as dark flecks, specks, or coffee grounds.

It’s important to note that both constipation and diarrhea can cause blood in the stool of cats. Bright red blood without either diarrhea or hard, dry stools generally indicates the problem is closer to the rectum and anus.

What about mucus in poop?

Slimy. Slippery. Yucky. These are all terms I’ve heard from cat parents describing excessive mucus in their cat’s stool. Mucus is a normal secretion of the intestinal tract to help lubricate and moisten the linings and facilitate fecal passage. It’s not unusual to observe some greasy or slick coatings on your cat’s feces. It is abnormal to see lots of slimy, often clear to pale yellow-green liquid accompanying your cat’s bowel movements. Fecal mucus is an example of “more is worse.”

What causes blood or mucus in my cat’s poop?
There can be many causes of blood or mucus in a cat’s poop. Some common reasons include:

Dietary changes and food intolerance
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Intestinal parasites such as Giardia
Infections

Also forgot to ask of the vet rules out Giardia ?
Checked her anal glands?

Do you have an appointment with the new vet ?

@Yumi I beloved you mentioned awhile back she had tested negative for Giardia and tri?
Perhaps the new vet could give Safira a fresh set of eyes on her bowel issue with resolution .
If you do try s new vet definitely recommed getting her chart records -
I alway ask for my kitties chart for my records jsut in case I go elsewhere saved money not retreating stuff we already did

Have you posted a thread of food recommendation for Belgium ?
Ya never know -someome May chime in what is available at a reasonable cost in your area and worked for bowls issues ? Just Brian storming because I kmow you are going through soo much

Continuing brainstorming - wanted to share
It’s basically your meat choice amd water for easy preparation
It had been popular for as many years back as I can remember -
I kmow @Xandria feeds better in the raw

Not sure if available online at a resonable cost ?

I was going to try it but found Nutrisource cat and kitten kibble in the blue bag finally resolved my kitties issues I dealt with for a year

I did notice slimey mucous when I feed a high protein food like Orijen and Acana
Amd it resolved once I switched to Nutrisource which has a lower protein

Hopefully If you do decide on a new vet you get result amd relief for your little peanut Safira

(((Hugs))) amd cuddle time rest to you amd Safira!

@Toa and Ross more Dutch deff as we're next to Antwerp (Merksem)
And been looking into them but some prices for second hands are ridiculous tbh - rather try to save up and have less food for ourselves in our freezer for a new one then.
And yes Shelter, of course! They need care and love as well and I truly hope they all find a golden home or at least have experienced a lot of love. Had to send in my partner alone though cause it would break my heart so much I'd walk out literally with the whole shelter D:

@Yoda mom
"I swear I spend more on vet visits amd food than my own"

That is very relatable atm.
And not only for possible breeding (if her bowels allow it over time. But we’re talking in a year or 2 from now, let her be a kitten and cat first ^_^) but also cause she is just simply my whole world.
My partner is often on the road for his work which can be long hours and besides that he has basketball as his hobby. So I have my little girl to be my companion and pain in the butt ^_^

well we put her fully back on raw for now

and that vet still didn’t had any clue, only try this and that and to cut her open.
Over my death body someone is gonne cut open my 8 month child >_>
But I did bring in several collect 3 days stool samples and she got a blood test and nothing to find, just absolutely nothing.
They tried a pasta cause due the diarrhea they though she maybe was constipated..
And she had medication (preventive) for Gardia and TriTri just in case.
Also erghmm pre-biotica? (not sure how you guys call it sorry :( language is sometimes a nasty barrier)
Then again she was the type that’s against raw, against dr google and against any sphynx forum or community cause she knows way better then 10000 people who actually had a sphynx vs someone who saw one twice in their practice (that wasn’t mine) -yes I am very very salty about her and wouldn’t recommend her to anyone.
I am my babies mom and if you ignore the things I tell you or ask then you’re no good for working together with me to find a solution for my baby.
So yes, deff looking for a new vet and we may have found one but we still need to make contact and ask all of the results/files at the ex-vet. My right eye twitches when I think of contacting her. >.<

I can let you know her diagnose if and when we find it yes of course.
Cause well this is a forum, we’re a family, I come here looking for answers and I’m sure others do too and maybe and hopefully my answer can help someone. Even if that’s only one person, it is one person that got the help!
The shelter speaks for itself :3 all food not used and still perfectly fine will be donated no matter how much the price was.
Sometimes it breaks my heart a tiny bit I see people trying to sell their left overs cause shelters need help. And all bits help!

Oh it is indeed bright red blood but she only has it on kibble. We’ve been thinking polyp maybe but the ex vet didn’t feel anything, then again she felt right after she was covered legs down in blood so if there was one – it probably was as empty as empty can be.
Then again since there is no sign of blood and only mucus on raw, maybe no polyp then..?
Not sure if anal glands got checked properly.

Have you posted a thread of food recommendation for Belgium ? ← euh no and I’m even a tiny bit a shamed to ask what that is or how to find it.
My breeder tried to help and is looking along as well but she’s clueless as well. She suspects just bad luck and IBS or IBD as her partner has 5 cats, two with less good bowels, 3 with very good bowels.
So genetics maybe? Which again leads to the question do I need to fix her or am I able to breed?
Cause I don’t want to let people go through what I’m going through.
I want to breed to help sphynx, to put more good once in the world, to go against money breeders that don’t even test theirs and just breed for money :(

And tysm for the links mom but it looks like it’s only Canada/US region. So not to be found here I’m afraid. (poked google, just in case someone here thought to buy it big and sell it but nope)

How do you know when protein is to high? I mean what do you need to check for it on the package?
Although she had hypoallergenic, shouldn’t we had to see a change then, any change?
Jolipet Diet cat food with horse meat - frozen food for cats is what she gets now, but the whole table of whats in it is chinees to me but it’s the only raw food we can find and store buy instead of ship for a insane amount which we can’t store due not enough freezer space (yet)
I still don’t know how good or bad it is but since it stops the blood it has to do something better then kibble? I think?

@Yumi I paid $220.96 for it. Not rude at all to ask.

Thanks! good ref point to check some out here, different brand though but second hands/new are sometimes so close in price and well we kinda never bought one before so we never know if we're over paying or not lol.
The one here was in this apartment w hen we bought it but small, too small. I complained from it since the start but yeah.
I may be able to convince him with enough begging to pleaaaaase get us a second -doesn't have to be a big or new one- freezer.
(No offence but some males like mine are stubborns lol - here I was thinking we females where but noooope)

Appreciated! Although it scared the - out of me how fast you are. I blame it being 1.43 AM and me being so so sleepy. So going to log off in a bit, take Safira under the covers and nap together as we always do <3
So tomorrow morning she can punch me in the face again for her morning food.
The downside of raw lolol. Kibble you can leave out, raw is if she's hungry ooooooh hell you'll know lolol. Ah gosh I love her so so much.
