The photos of his skin are right above your post. If you scroll back up you will see I updated the post with current photos a while back. I can clearly see them so you must be able to

Hi there so glad to of seen this post my Poppy started to get these darker grey markings all over her armpits belly, around her bum just as you have described above here this October when I moved into my new apt I was kind of worried as well racking my brain wondering if anything had changed other than our location enough that would of upset her skin. On the other hand I also have skin pigmentation issues of my own and was wondering can this happen to cats? Same as you described the patches are not rough they are smooth like her normal skin and completely the same in texture just the color is now darker grey/black where she is a grey/blue mitted sphinx originally. I also was a little displeased when it first started happening as I though it made her look patchy, but now I have come to accept it just as my own skin condition like mother like daughter !! :)
Now I don't worry about my little patchy girl and I will just enjoy any new spots that come along and add to her "pattern" thank you so much for this post Ill try and add some pictures of Poppy's markings as they are so similar to your cat's its kinda funny so yes We Are Not Alone after all yay

As you can see from my picture I have 2 boys Smokey (grey and white) and Bandit (cream). Smokey also has this skin condition that my Vet insists there is nothing wrong with him. Smokey's spots seem to come and go. Right now he has the skin darkening on both sides of his butt and one spot on his side. His seem to come and go in different places. I first thought that the darkening on both sides of his butt was from sitting on the warm cable box imprinting the oils in his skin but I moved the box and it still never went away. He gets his bath once a week and I swear he gets dirty again in 3 days. I also tried coconut oil and I even tried Dawn dish soap only on his sides that is suppose to cut grease and nothing seems to work so I have given up and since it does not bother him and it is not anything medical I just deal with it. Bandit on the other hand never had this issue at all he stays pretty clean after his bath until his next bath a week later.

I did read on this forum that some people have issues with dry skin on their sphinx's my breeder told me to use baby lotion on them when you take them out of the bath and they are still wet then just dry them off with a towel. My boy's skin is always soft as a baby's since I have been doing this since they were 3 months old. And since I just use Johnson's baby products it never harmed them I figured if a baby came get rubbed with this lotion and they also then put their hands in their mouth my guys would be ok too.

I am so happy I came across this post, my little one is getting these exact spots all over her! I'm still going to take her to the vet to be safe but they look exactly like this. I feel a lot better knowing I'm not the only one, I was getting really worried

I would thing a pigmentation change would occur over a longer period of time, curious to see if it is in fact a food allergy of sorts. Please keep us updated @Jelena. :)

@Jelena , welcome ! Handsome kitty!
Please keep us posted on how he does on Acana food-
Which flavor are you feeding ? Lamb fish or chicken Acana?
I was looking at buying it to give as snacks

Perhaps a vet visit would be good to rule out
Any skin stuff like urticaria

I have 2 Sphynx brothers one is listed as color Red on his paperwork and the other is listed as Grey and White on
his paperwork. Bandit the Red ones skin is perfectly pink and Smokey the Gray and White ones skin used to be
just Grey and White but in the past few years he starting getting those darker patches on him. Did exactly the same
took him to the vet and he said that there was nothing wrong with him it was just discoloration. So glad to read the
same diagnosis from so many other Sphynx owners. He is loved no matter what color he is. :)

Hi! My baby has the same marks! we took him to the vet a while ago and she said it was nothing to worry about could be just discoloration. But he has really dry skin too. Does your baby have dry skin as well? I feed him the Acana too! It was happening before that too.. I wonder if there is anything we can do :/

@Jackiee this thread is from 2012, but great to see you are reviving a thread and are confirming hyper pigmentation is normal and not something to worry about. BTW welcome to Sphynxlair. Hope you become an active member in this amazing community and you share more about your baby.

Does anyone notice any brown gunk on their Sphynx's nails and in-between the skin folds by the nails? I have thought and kind of still think it is some sort of fungus, which I have been treating with a special shampoo. My girl also recently has these marks on her skin pop up over night and are spreading and when I saw them I could of sworn that whatever was on her nails, spread to her skin. She was spending lots of time under the blanket when I moved to a colder climate and she was sweating more then she used to and since fungus grows when it is warm and moist, I could of sworn it was a skin fungus problem. I am a bit relieved that it is hyper pigmentation, but can anyone give me advice on how to fix the problem with her nails?

@Susanhughes what threads are you referring to? The clipping your Sphynx nails? It is the link underlined. It takes a while to get used to the community...we are all very patient...feel free to PM (message) me if you need any extra help.
