Meow!
My new sphynx kitten has developed these dark brownish spots mainly along her sides. I’ve bathed her repeatedly and tried scrubbing with various soaps including hypoallergenic cat shampoo, and tried coconut oil today & some natural grease lifting dish detergent, to no avail.

What does this look like to you? Dirt? Pigmentation?
She’s a black, so there’s that...

*oh and she does have one window she can get in, though I try to remove her when I see her there... it does have a frosted tint (bathroom privacy)

Any help is much appreciated!
She is just just over 5 months old ~

Just keep an eye on it... Could just be pigment. Molly had this on her front legs and it was yeast on her skin (she is black too). She tucks that part under when she lays down, so it was a warm dark place for it to grow. If kitty is licking at it or scratching it lots, I would get it checked. Or if it gets red/ scaly get it checked too.

Thank you very much got your reply, Molly’s mom!
I’m researching yeast... I do use Worlds Best litter & am noticing a possible correlation from various threads.
I also suspect that I may not be rinsing well enough with the bath time.
She didn’t have these brown spots/blotch areas when I got her, not for her first vet visit..
it wasn’t until after her bath ... hmmmm...

They appear flat and look like part of the skin rather than bumps... I’ll def keep an eye on them!

Ohh, also should note: she doesn’t smell yeasty..
Great advice has been given. Please update us if you change litter and see a difference. Your information can help others in the future.
Will do! Curious which litters are recommended?

@CatLadyForLife Great advice given
Is it the same litter kitty had at the breeder ?

Is it to add I adopted a Sphynx thst had sun pigmentation from over window sunbathing
He was vet checked and confirmed sun pigmentation .

For peace of mind I would recommend a vet check -
Sometimes they do a skin scraping test
Have you contacted the breeder? They can provide advice and recommendations too.
I have read worlds best litter can give yeasty problems for some kitties .
Several of us use dr elseys unscented litter ... Amd a close dupe I use now is fresh for life pet odor destroyer
I'm the black and gold bag from petsupermarket .

I will try to find the pic of the sun pigmentation of my boy the day I adopted him.
Again he was vet checked to rule out yeast etc

It cleared up on its own in a do few months . Just did refuser spa day with Hylt shampoo.
I set up their cat tree in an indirect lighted window -

@CatLadyForLife , here is an older thread with the pic of my boy
It seems like the darker Sphynx are know to get pigmentation.
I would recommend a vet visit for peace of mind as well as als about the litter

Thank you so much for your reply! The photo you sent of your cat with the sun pigmentation does look a lot like what my babe has... thanks!

The Breeder used a regular clay litter. I’m going to make a concerted effort to keeping her out of that sunny window, and will swap out the worlds best cat litter as well.

I’ll keep everyone updated.

Today I am feeling the texture of the dark patches and I can sense a bit of dryness perhaps, rather than smoothness...

For peace of mind I would give a call to your vet and email them the pics

I was shocked when I saw my boy for the first time with the pigmentation
All cleared up on its own

Hopefully not a yeasty reaction to litter

Thank you so much. My mama heart is so stressed & worried today. I will swap out the litter ASAP & make vet appt to check for yeast. (It’s a shame my vet has zero sphynx experience, but he is knowledgeable and a good vet)
Also keeping her out of windows.
Sigh, I really appreciate your support.

You are THE sweetest! You are my comfort in helping me feel supported thru this. I can’t thank you enough! :)

I sent some photos to my vet, so we shall see.
The rusty brown coloring looks distinct against her grey/light black coloring. The photo of your boy continues to help me feel better.
I must admit that the texture is markedly different on my Velouria today, rough & dry. Before I washed her vigorously yesterday and the day before, )with some coconut oil too) her marks were smooth just part of the skin. Perhaps I fried her out by not rinsing well enough I fear, sigh.
I just love this lil dark beauty, my Kismet, my Velouria

Nuzzles to your angels there!

We all come together here
It's my omly social media because I find this community just amazing down to earth bunch.

With my boy I bathed him once a month with Hylyt shampoo and exfoliating gloves .
I let his skin do its thing to heal . It did have so,e rougher texture spots
That I cringed when I saw and felt ...

we do see posts mentioning dark Sphynx with discoloration .
I have learned to live the occasion, spot or two when they vet checked fine .

I will be following closely for positve updates

head smooches sent !

I kmow you are there for all of us too
It's what we do here (((hugs))))

Will give those nuzzles! To my angels ! So funny I alway ask my Aussie
