These are the meds Coco must have.
I know some people think I am crazy for doing this.
Baytril
Norvasc (Amlodipine
Pepcid AC Acid Controller (famotidine) when needed.
Azodyl
Aluminum hydroxide
Normosol-R
Miralax
Coco was given 5 months to live in Jan 2009.
She has Asthma,Allergies,Arthritis,CRF,Bladder Problems.
In 2001 I was told she would not live and to have her pts.
They had done so many tests and did not know what she had.
This was at the er vet.
They were sure she had Diabetes but it turned out to be FIA.
She had severe anemia then and could not even stand up.
To everyone with sick cats sometimes there is hope.

Coco comes with us when I go to cat shows out of my area.
I leave her in the hotel room.
She has thrown up on the way to both shows we have gone to that were far away.
I am hoping this will not happen tomorrow.

I've had 2 kitties with CRF, one lived to be 18 and the other to nearly 20. They weren't so hard to deal with. Just be willing to work close with your vet. They needed a special diet, closely watched for any urinary changes (prone to getting UTI's and needing antibiotics), and sometimes they piddled cause they couldn't make it to a litter box which is when they really needed lots of extra loving and reassurance.

There were a few inconveniences and some more vet bills than normal, but it's a condition that can be treated and the kitty can have a good quality of life for years. The hardest part was keeping a really close eye for potential blockage of the urinary tract and knowing that it could cause them to need to be pts at a moment's notice.

Other than that, me and the kitties both had happy lives and I wouldn't have traded them for anything. :)
