We named Leo, Leonidas after the movie "300". I loved the character and I thought the name fit Leo. And Athena we named after searching for greek gods and godess.

I like the names Leonidas and Athena too. I thought about giving Butterball a greek god name but didn't. I saw a sphynx named Beetlejuice that I liked. Then I thought about turkeys. Then I thought about turkeys with no feathers and Butterball popped in my head. It just fit so I went with it.

I love the name Butterball! I like names of things- - I've had flower names (Rosie and Petunia), food names(Cheese Curl, Zuchini, Eggnog,Peanut, Popcorn) things names (Q-tip, Tiddlywinks), people names (Bertha Rose, Pearly Mae, Othie Marie) foreign words/names (Habibi, Mahmoody) names centered around holidays (Boo, Eggnog, Coal, Noel) I like names that no one else might recognize as names--that's why I loved your choice with Butterball. I like old fashioned or weird names too.

Well my kitties went through a few names before we got them.

My first names were from the old movie Caligula. I wanted to call them Caligula and Drusilla, (Cal & Dru) but then my husband watched the movie and that was not going to happen. It is a very weird weird movie. I even had collars with those names on them. Then because he was a Tux that came along. Then I have a weird twitch so that is where her name came from. It is fitting because her tails twitches like crazy when she is excited.

Haji is short for Hajimema****e, a Japanese word that is a greeting meaning hello, pleased to meet you, how do you do.

It is also the name of a song by one of my favorite bands, Umphrey's Mcgee. Ryan Stasik, the bass player, wrote it. And Ryan is one gorgeous specimen of a man.

Haji = my "hello" kittty.

Mug-Y came with his name but it certainly suits him as he is a bit of a Gremlin! My other baby is a bearded dragon called Brian but his full name is Bri-Nylon!!!

I love individual and names that have some thought behind them...Butterball is definitely one of my faves too!

Ha, the site doesn' t like haji-me-ma-shi-te because of the 4 letters that spell a swear word!

It's pronounced like this:

kimo's full name is kimo kawaii. it's the first thing my baby sister (who lives in japan, teaching english) said when she saw him. it means, basically, so strange it's cute, or weird but cute. i thought it was the most awesomely fitting name ever for a sphynx!

Snuffie's name is actually Snuffaluffagus after the Sesame Street character. She was named by my breeders grandson and it fits her very well. When she was a baby she looked just like him without the long nose. She also tends to be a little sleepish at times and just wants to snuggle like most kitties. I didn't receive her until she was 8 mths of age or so so I didn't feel the need to change it. I can't wait for the next litter, I get to name my baby next time!! ah-um,,,I mean Jim gets to name his baby in the next litter! LOL

Love the names and meanings everyone!

Stella sort of popped into my head. Always thought the name was cute. I don't know any one named Stella, but I had senior pictures taken at a photography studio here in town called "Stella Studios".

Ripley is named after Sigourney Weaver in Alien.
She's my little bald alien!!
If I ever get another (I can't even believe I'm thinking about it) I can name her Newt.

I haven't actually purchased my kitty yet, but I've decided on the name Wuahful. Waffle was the goofy cat off the nickelodeon cartoon Catscratch. I used to really like the show, so I decided that's what i'll name my cat.

Cleo is because I wanted a Egyptian name.
I had the Cleopatra part but not the rest of the name.
A Bengal breeder named her.
He gave me the Egyptian Queen part.
I named Wrinkles Wrinkles Velvet.
It is because she is Wrinkles.
I was going to call her Velvet Wrinkles but a Aby breeder suggested Wrinkled Velvet and I put it to a vote on another list.

The cat I was going to get was going to be named Shaft because he was going to be my chocolate baby. Ya damn right!

Chadwick, however, was not named that for any special reason. I have always liked naming pets human names. I've had cats named Harold, Kevin, and Beatrice and dogs named Katie, Sebastian, and Byron. I was looking for a name that would make me smile every time I said it. I thought of Arney, Scott, and Chad. When I first saw my boy, I decided on Chadwick and I usually call him that as opposed to just Chad. His full name, however, is Chadwick VonLeuken because he does kinda look like a leukemia patient. Insensitive, perhaps, but my best friend insists that his name is Chadwick VonScrotum for obvious reasons...

I believe I'm going to name my kitty Darwin. I admire Charles Darwin's work. He originated the concept of natural selection, which backs up the theory of evolution. Plus I thought it was cute and fairly original.

Piglet was already named as such when I adopted her, so I had no choice in her naming. I don't know the reasons behind her name, but I decided to keep it because she's too old for a name change and it does suit her!
