I know sphynx owners are crazy about their cats! Some even fly their beloved cats in from all over the world! *guilty ; )

How far did you/your sphynx travel to get to you?! If you have multiples, please feel free to answer for all of them, and share your experiences!

Remember, please to do not disclose cattery or breeder names, per Lair rules!

My two boys Toa and Ross come from a breeder 20 min driving from my home. I was able to visit them a few times before gotcha day.

Jade and Foxy come from a breeder 3 hours driving from my house. That' considered to be long distance in my tiny country:)

My avatar girl Yoda was a birthday total surprise - he got from a scammer - met him on the side of the road by her "friend" .for "such a deal "of $850 no papers sold a sick kitty -poor Yoda passed at age 2 :( blood clot bad heart .) scammer ghosted and had a history of shipping sick kitties :(

All adoptees in her honor :
Toby 5 hour round trip drive
Yoda & Batman littermates - 7 hour each way drive- ironically same name as my girl who passed
Claire Bare 5 hour round trip - @Monica I believe she was originally imported from Russia or Spain.vhave to check .
When I saw your kitty coming from Russia I wonder if they are from same cattery

All of ours are from the same breeder approx 3 hours 45 minutes away on average due to traffic. Some times we stayed in a pet friendly hotel and bonded with them alone which was so much fun the other 2 we traveled there and back...it’s the best adventure ever.

King Kenzo Bare was purchased locally from a wonderful, ethical breeder only 20 minutes away! She’s lovely, and she organizes HCM screening events here in ATX for a discounted rate!

My chocolate girl is flying in from Russia, via courier. The breeder is very well-known and respected in the sphynx community! {= So thankful to bring one of her babies home! I will follow up with my importing experience in a few weeks to help those who are considering doing the same.

@Yoda mom I don’t think they’re from the same cattery... I’m pretty positive I know where your Claire Bare is from bc I recognize the blue background in her kitten photos!! :giggle:

I drove 15 minutes for Rankle. His previous family bought him and his sister at the same time as kittens and didn't get either of them neutered. Fast forward 1.5 years and kitties are trying to make more kitties so they separated them and got rid of the male. Poor Rankle had been shut away in a room on his own for goodness knows how long. I don't understand why anyone would spend that much money buying two cats and not spend what isn't even a tenth of the cost getting them neutered. Anyway, their loss is my gain because he's wonderful (despite the nipping, food stealing, carpet plucking and stinky poop)

I live in Vancouver and my breeder is in Prince George. Same province in Canada, but either 9 hours to drive or 1.5 hours by plane.

For Max, I flew to Prince George and picked him up, flew back same day. It was the best adventure ever.

At the airport...

For Min, because her siblings were being flown in same day, I was offered to have her flown in as well. She was, but I didn't care for it at all.

In future, I will always drive or fly myself to and from the breeder.

Sorry, @Yoda mom I didn't mean to post on top of your post. I'm from old school and get myself caught up in jams cause I don't know how to navigate around them like youngsters do....OOoops!

Twenty-three hours trip each way for Dublin with a one night stay in a hotel going and coming.
I had Yudjin imported from Russia. I'd do it MANY TIMES OVER, because of my total trust in the breeder and courier.

Okay. Importing update!

It was wonderful. :giggle: Minka arrived via courier around 5 am last Tuesday. The interaction with the courier upon pick up was brief. He had contacted me where to meet via text. He had me look over Minka for approval, scanned her microchip for verification, and handed over her passport/papers. The breeder also had sent some of Minka’s kibbles and some DIVINE Russian chocolate bars as a gift.

Minka looked even more stunning than her photos/videos I had seen of her. She was the picture of health, no runny nose nor goopy eyes. She was also impeccably clean and groomed!! I had read many horror stories of imported cats from other Catteries arriving filthy with a URI, or worse!

Minka ate, drank, and used the litter box upon arriving home without any issues. She had her vet wellness check in the afternoon and was given the all clear to meet the boys! Her personality is everything I could have wanted. Very affectionate and attentive. She took to all the Stinky Boys almost at once. The breeder was in contact with me many times throughout the week to check in on her graduate! You can really tell she truly loves her cats and really works with them before they leave for their forever homes. {= She even told me that her secret ingredient for producing outstanding cats was LOVE!!! {}

In summary, I would 100% import another sphynx from this breeder. Some may find that crazy, but our experience was nothing short of a dream!
