Why do sphynx shiver? Are they cold? nervous? I've read that sphynx can survive in snowy cold weather due to there high metabolic rate. Is this true?

I've never seen Izmae shiver either. If they are warm and do this, then, I would go for a vet visit. Blood work. What temperature is your house?

@theors01 , My 4 streak naked and no shivering even with summer A/C

My two twin brothers I would say "quiver" when happy excited and looking to be petted-

They stand with quivering tails twitching in the air (looks like going to pee! When I saw it the first time! :) )
And their back feet doing an up n down happy feet dance purring

I would ask the vet about true shivering

I personally cringe at the thought of snowy cold weather and Sphynx or any pets outside unprotected in the elements hot or cold

Nigel shivers when we go outside if it's cold. I'm not sure if it is true shivering or if it is because he is nervous and does not like the cold. Yuri doesn't shiver at all. We found this out when we had to put them in the truck when it was 30°F outside on Christmas. Nigel loves going outside when it is warm and loves going on car rides. Once he was in the truck he got in the heated seat and wouldn't move. I'm pretty sure shivering is his way of saying get me back inside now. But I'm more leaning toward it being from nervousness as I've never had an animal shiver other than my dog who has anxiety disorder and he shivers when he is scared.

I thought Max was shivering when I first got him, but realized it was impossible as we initially kept our home's temperature really high. Then I realized he was "shivering" when excited for food and attention -- often accompanying purring. He does this cute leg shiver/twitch when cradled in my arms being petted.

I totally understand seeing the "shivering" and assuming it's from cold. On the other hand, I'm sure they will shiver or something similar if chilled.

Diesel tends to shiver when he is cold. Fuzzy will shiver when he is stressed out (like trips to the vet).

My cleo shivers when she is cold. No other time. And sphynx would die in the snow, they are still cats!! Only snow cats can survive the snow.

Yeah, Ra does that too! Ra ‘shivers’ with me and does the loud purring with my boyfriend...we both know who’s his favourite- he hasn’t a beard tough, which helps

Toothless shiver; it seems to be mostly when she thinks I'm ignoring her and wants to get my attention.
I've never seen Elfie shiver though.
