Hi I'm new here.

My story is I use to have a regular domestic cat that I found in the garbage outside my house, some idiot threw it there and it was just a kitten. I seen it and started to raise and feed it then got its shots and brought it to my house. My cousin however was allergic to it everytime he came over, but I said too bad i'm keeping my cat. I kept it for about 4 months but my cousin's allergies became too bad, he was allergic to the fur. His nose would puff up, eyes red, watery, and sneezing about 3 times a minute!

But, the way this cat helped me is really something else. I was going through a lot of problems and have some medical issues with the way I think, but when I got a cat is was like they magically disappeared? I kid you not. When I got the cat I wasn't thinking about the past, or problems, or regretting decisions I had made earlier. It was almost like my cat was some type of miracle medicine.. no joke.

So anyways, the search began to find a new home and I went through about 20 people and finally found the right home. After that I found out about sphynx cats and how they had no fur and that's when I decided to get one.

I am an avid lover all types of cat lover, whether its a wild cat like a Lynx, lion, cougar, jaguar, leopard, lion, characol with the big ears lol.
I love cats because they are behave like real humans do, they are very smart and know whats going on around them. I love the way cats behave, specially some of the female cats, they behave like royalty sometimes walking around. I also like cats because of how well they bond with people and come to know that person only. My old cat was a bit of a feral cat because it would hiss at everyone but me and only come to me, but I liked that because that's what made it my cat.

After having a cat for a couple of months I think I will have a cat for the rest of my life, I want to purchase a male sphynx that is very young, a small kitten, and I want it young so it can grow old with me, and remember that I raised it and so it has a very strong bond with me.

Welcome! Good luck with your search. And thank you for taking in the kitten that was left in your trash. Even if you weren't it's Forever Home, you probably saved it's life.

I really liked that cat, if it wasn't for my cousin, it would still be with me right now, I was planning on keeping it until it passed away which would be at least a good 15 years.

Welcome

Maybe it is better before you buy a sphynx....that your cousin is gonna try out if he/she isn't allergic to the sphynx....it would be pretty sad if you have to rehome another kitty....

Great story Madoff thanks for sharing:ThumbsUp:
I agre with Gizmo if your cousin is a big factor thn you should make sue they have no allergys to a sphynx some people are because of the dander and saliva and that would be very sad for you and your kitty.
Ask a local cattery if the 2 of you can come over for a visit and spend a good amount of time there to be safe.

Welcome Madoff! I am certain the right kitty for you will come along. I believe that animals are little souls sent here to show us how to live, love and even die. I am so glad that your heart was open to learn from the kitten you found. Best of luck in your search. Retired breeder cats appear here quite a bit, with patience Im sure you will find the one meant for you!

Madoff, I saw your post on kijiji last night...good luck in your search, but just keep in mind that those "free listings' websites are often full of scam artists! And know that a good quality (i.e. healthy sphynx kitten) doesn't usually go for anything under $1000. From what I have come accross in Canada and the US (and I have looked A LOT), they range between $1200 and $1500(for a 'pet' quality(altered) and you still need to do your homework and make sure you are buying from a reputable breeder. Before you make any decisions, ask around on the Lair...there are tons of experienced Sphynx people here!
