Hello everyone !
As you know cleo and Bagins has to visit our vet . Well I’ve been seriously upset since ! The receptionist said did they both mother Nailah and they basically had , along with rough play from Bagins !
They had to go back today , my vet says they may have a virus and all I was told was if it’s a virus they won’t be able to have antibiotics !!
IM AFRAID TO ASK WHY THIS VIRUS WOULDNT RESPOND TO THEM !
I’m not sure I want to know until I have to !
They were going to call me but my husband told them not to as I stress too much ! But I’m stressing cause I don’t know ! And I’m stressing because I don’t want to know !
These are my babies they are my life if I’m honest cause I’m with them 24/7
So please say a pray it’s not a virus and just conjunctivitis
Xxx ❤
Please on this occasion guys if you have any idea of what it is please don’t feel the need to tell me ! I’m going wait and see what’s what xx

@Anita Eccleston i just wrote a reply but now see you don’t want to know amd want to wait

I just deleted it bcz I memtioned what my guess what it may be ...please don’t be panicked .... as many as 80% of kitties test positve so pls don’t stress.

I would call the vets office because it may have been the delivery of how she said it.
The eye specialist I took him to didn’t even test for it with my Yoda bcz she said could get false negative or positve so just went ahead with eye drop meds and all cleared up fine

Hugs and head smooches !

Positve vibes ! Following for updates

@Anita Eccleston It does sound like the receptionist dealt you that information in a rather thoughtless way and I can sympathise with the worry!

I just wanted to say that most cats are carriers of one or more of the common cat flu viruses, but that their immune systems mostly keep them at bay. In younger cats with weaker immune systems, the symptoms of these viruses can flare up, often with the stress of moving to their new homes, but with treatment the symptoms will go away most of the time.

Also, antibiotics only work on bacterial infections, which are usually a secondary effect of a virus.

I'm sure that with the right medicines your trio will be right as rain in no time, and just wait to speak to the vet! Try not to worry, it'll all be alright!! {} (((BIG hugs)))

Please don't stress ; as has been said above, it sounds like whoever spoke to you was rather insensitive and should have explained to you why they couldn't give antibiotics. Small personal anecdote below that I hope will help explain a little bit.

Some of my kitties caught a cold virus last month. The vet couldn't give them antibiotics to deal with the the cold as antibiotics don't work on viruses. They did, however, give antibiotics to deal with any secondary infections that may have arisen from the cold virus.

Basically antibiotics do not kill viruses, they only work on bacterial infections. If you Google "why don't antibiotics kill viruses" there are far better and more comprehensive explanations than I could give as to why this is so.

I hope this helps a bit with why they said what they did. I hope it's something minor that you don't need to worry about.
