One of my new girls Ebba who is 16 weeks old yowls the whole time she is awake. She is not in heat, I took her to the vet and they could find nothing wrong with her. She is healthy, she eats, drinks, she plays. She is driving me crazy. I have no idea what she wants. Or what she is looking for. I don't mind "vocal" kitties but this goes beyond this. She is never quiet. She has plenty of other cats to play with and a dog and a kid and me. She is TINY for 16 weeks and so we are waiting to spay her until she weighs 5lbs as that is my vet's policy. All the other cats are fixed. She does try and suckle on me all the time. Is she looking for her mom? HELP! She just yowled from 8am-until now, still yowling for no reason. I am stumped. They have food and water. My house is warm. They have toys. They can run all over the house besides my bedroom. I am going bonkers!

Butterball yowls alot too. I found by ignoring him, he stops. Usually takes 5-10 minutes. If I pay attention while he's howling, he howls more so I ignoring him is better.

Does she stop if held or given attention, it sounds like she may miss mommy especially after mentioning the suckling part! That would be my bet!

Maybe she needs to feel secure, especially with all the change going on in your house. Is it possible to put her in a room by herself, with a nice warm blanky, some food and water. Maybe that would help her relax a bit? I'm not sure, but Good Luck with figuring out what to do.

Sounds like she might be missing her mama..My 15 week old kitten meows alot sometimes,,I've even woke up a few times to her sucking on my ear!!! Snuffie and her tend to stay busy playing most of the time so she isn't so bad. Goodluck, I hope you find a resolution soon!

I really do think she is missing her mom, she is always trying to suckle on everything. I just finally put the new cat tree together whew so maybe that will keep her occupied for a while.

I just noticed something else about Butterball's yowling. He yowls when he doesn't know where I am in the house. I go upstairs, he yowls. I go in the bathroom, he yowls. It's like he wants to get into trouble so he yowls to make sure I'm not in the house so he can beat up the dog and crap on the carpet. heheh, I'm kidding.

My Nudies do that when they are looking for one another or are trying to get my attention. If I ask "What is it Sweetheart"? Then who ever it is will stop. They also do it when trying to talk to the birds that feed on the side of the house. The ducks come up from the lake, the assorted birds come to eat and the Nudies have a "Bird's eye view" of the whole thing!!!

I hope Ebba is feeling better and yowling less today. Changes can be hard. She may just need more cuddling time until she feels more secure.

I have been gone most the day but there was no yowling all night and none since I have been home. Who knows. Seems whenever I complain about something it resolves itself.

I'm glad to hear that you got a little "reprieve" from the yowling.

Piglet sometimes will start yowling if I go too long without paying attention to her (usually when my boyfriend comes to visit) or if she's wondering where I am (if I'm in a different part of the house). As soon as I start paying attention to her again, she'll stop. I bet your kitty is just looking for some attention, too.

Butterball and Piglet are so much alike. However, there is no way he would ever go for pet assisted therapy. He wouldn't be mean, he would just sit there with his ears pulled back with a "get me out of here" look on his face.

Pbinky yowls so loud sometimes. It's deep and throaty, kinda creepy if you ask me:Dizzy:
But I just talk back to him. He yowls and I call out his name, he yowls I call out to him again....it can go on for like ten minute. And Skinny just sits there staring at me.
I swear, I'm sure Pbinky is trying to have a conversation with me.
