Hi, just reaching out for help and advice please. I have two 5 month old kittens, they have both always eaten absolutely fine but about 2 weeks ago Phoenix stopped eating for about a day and a half (he’s normally on the greedy side!) so I took him to the vets, they ran blood tests that were all ok and that evening he started eating as normal!

When I got them from the breeder they were on 3 different types of food, but once he started eating again I thought to try to keep him steady on just the Royal Canin kitten wet food (which was one of the three).

For the first week it was fine but then his stools became looser, then watery and mucousy.

So I took him to the vets yesterday and they said to do a worming treatment - MILPRO tablet and then to start a probiotic so I went and bought Protexin Pro-Kolin paste and have so far given him 2ml Friday night and 2x2ml today…

At 2pm today he done a slightly more firmer still (the first one in a week) it was like the first half firmer and second half diarrhoea… But he went again about 8pm tonight and the diarrhoea was absolute liquid.

I’m just quite worn out if the mental load of worrying about them and what I’m getting wrong.

I’ve ordered Hills I/d kitten digestive food that will get delivered Tuesday so I don’t know whether that will help if I just slowly transition…

But I’m just soooo unsure what to do to do the best by him, so I’d really appreciate your advice from people with experience.

Thank you so much.

Might be a food intolerance to the primary protein? You might also talk to your vet about could it be Giardia/a parasite. The other kitten might not be affected like Phoenix does. Often when fecal tests are done unfortunately many come back false negative for Giardia. Many vets treat for it anyways because it wont hurt them. Have you reached out to your breeder for advice? They might be able to share if any other littermates have had an issue with a possible parasite etc. Keep us updated.
