Bentley occasionally coughs after he drinks water so I didn't really think anything much when he was coughing on Saturday after drinking water, but by night time it was very clear that something bigger was going on than just the water cough. We went to sleep & I coiuld hear that he was pretty congested, he snored like a drunk old man that night. Sunday he was ok again during the day but again, towards the night he started coughing a lot so I sat in the steamy bathroom with him for a little bit & then we went to bed. 1st thing Monday morning we were at the vet.
They couldnt hear the congestion at that time & although he didn't cough while there, I had recorded it so that they could see exactly what was happening. He's eating & drinking & playing still, just not as much. They did an xray on his lungs & they seem ok. He's being treated for a URI. Its so pitiful. It really is. I feel like since he started taking medication, its gotten worse. He's definitely coughing more often & now his eyes are watery & he's so congested!
I'm so sad, but relieved also because vet thought it could be asthma & he could even need to be medicated every day for life if it was!
Starla was all over him this morning so I put a sweater on her to keep her on the calmer side.
I was supposed to go to Poughkeepsie tonight because my best friend is having surgery in the morning that I have to bring her to but I told her I can't, I'll have to go down early in the morning & just pick her up because I can't leave him. Tim (kinda my boyfriend LOL) is going to stop by after he gets out of work tomorrow & give him his medication & snuggle him for a little bit because I don't know what else to do.
On the up side of things, Bentley is 9.6 lbs & I had to bring Starla with us too because when I tried to leave with Bentley she totally freaked out. She's 6.7lbs which shocked me, I thought she was under 6lb for sure.
Please keep my little guy in your thoughts and prayers!
