Cardiologist in New York

My vet offers ultra sound every Monday but I hear that's not as reliable. Can anyone weigh in on that. He also charges a ton even my breeder says it too much.
I do have the option of going to where she is 5 hours away and using her cardiologist.

I have only ever heard of them using ultrasound... have you checked out Hairless Hearts?

They organize lower cost HCM screening clinics in North America for sphynx. Their web site has lots of info on screening process too.

They have a facebook page too that is sometimes more up to date on locations of clinics and times.

To screen properly for HCM, it needs to be done by a board certified cardiologist as well. They are few and far between in the vet community.

I have two suggestions for you here in NYC. I am not sure if I am allowed to solicit vet info on here, as I know you can't recommend breeders? Private message me if you'd like!

The first contact would be my primary vet, he is the most genuine guy you'd ever meet... And the second contact is probably the place he'd suggest, also here in NYC. I am sure it will cost a fortune but they definitely have a cardiologist on staff.

This is a good question. I mentioned to my regular vet that I would need a referral to a cardio to do HCM scans a little later and he said they do some test in his office that would cost me less. I don't remember what kind of test it was. I like my vet but I'm not sure if I want go with him or go to the more expensice cardio. I have 2 cats that have never been scanned.

There is a vet cardiologist in Latham, NY. I don't know if that is who you are referring too, but it was recommended by both of my vets. Fluffy and Moses see two different people, only because I haven't switched Moses over yet and Fluffy needed a specific vet to certify her for pet therapy. Latham shouldn't be TOO far for you. I don't know if they visit other offices, but Fluffy goes to Just Cats in Guilderland and they were the ones who first recommended them to us for a scan.

I use a cardiologist that comes to our vet's office in Bedford, NY once a week. Might be too far for you to travel (1 hour north of NYC by car), but if you're interested, PM me and I'll give you the details.
