My furry-fur-kid Chewie has apparently not been feeling well. I noticed on Thursday that he wasn't eating like he normally does. He'd act like he was hungry and wanted to be fed, but his dish would be full. On Friday, he was doing the same thing, so I went ahead and took him to a vet, since he needed his vaccinations anyway. I just moved to Miami last year, so this was the first time I needed a vet down here (my dad was my vet before, but now he lives a couple of states away). I wasn't thrilled with this vet (they won't even clip a cat's claws unless it's sedated!), since the office staff and vet didn't seem to take me seriously and basically blew me off.
I know Chewie, and he's usually very good about eating (He's 15 pounds!), so it's very unusual that he won't eat. He won't eat his dry kibble, which is Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck, whether I give it to him dry or soaked in warm water (he'll drink some of the water, though). He wouldn't eat the expensive canned food, either, just lick it a little. So, I went to Petsmart and got some of the cheaper, junky wet cat food that a lot of cats seem to prefer and that I normally wouldn't feed him. He's eaten some of the 50 cent/can Sheba, so I'm hoping he'll keep it up, just so that I know he's eating at least a little.
He doesn't seem to be in pain, and his abdomen doesn't seem tender. He's no more touchy about me trying to look in his mouth than he usually is (as in, he never allows it). I'm at a complete loss. He seems a lot quieter today, but I'm hoping that's at least partially because of the vaccinations. If he's still not acting right by Monday, I'm going to take him to another vet that I found. This one has experience with Sphynx, too, so I'll use him for Oliver, too, if I like him.
