As a lot of you know my Loki (the peterbald) has kidney disease. I have had a hard time getting him to eat enough calories so he doesn't loose any more weight or cannibalize his own muscle mass. He used to weigh about 9.75lbs and he is holding at about 8.25lbs now.
But, he is a lanky guy and the weight loss is pretty evident.
For the past two nights I have gotten him to eat over 3oz of a wet food and keep it down!
I have to sit with him and fend off the vultures (Danser and Merlin) but he is really putting it away. This makes me so happy because not only is he getting extra calories but also more moisture. I am hoping this can be an every nite thing!!!
Took me 8 cans of food to find one he really would go for.

Just wanted to share my bit of joy!

Thank you all for your "atta boys" for Mr. Loki. He ate wet food for breakfast today and was on their food table when I got home tonight waiting for me to dish up some more. (HOORAY)

CLEANED THE BOWL!
Almost 3 oz of wet food tonight. He was waiting for me on their food table when I got home form work. So I dished some out and he plowed in and I was astonished!
Then he climbed into hubby's lap and promptly fell asleep for 45 min. Out light a light.
Made my day cuz it was a long one.

Another night and another clean plate. I figured out he likes to eat at about 7pm and only if it is a fresh can. No leftovers for him.
THANK YOU to all who have said a little prayer for my guy. He must have gotten them all!

Hello!

I just came by to post an update on my CRF kitty and saw your post. Fancy Feast + phosphate binder works AWESOME for us :)

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, the website TANYA'S COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO FELINE CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE is absolutely ESSENTIAL to living with CRF.
