Well here we go… I took Dolly to her ophthalmologist today. She has been bothering with her left eye since this weekend and it looked cloudy. When I adopted her, she had a corneal abrasion and some scarring in her right eye, and the vet was concerned for a corneal sequestrum at that time hence the ophthalmologist referral. We’ll, I took her in today and she does officially have a sequestrum. We are keeping an eye on it and starting medication. She will be taking cidofovir 0.5% ophthalmic solution one drop twice a day along with erythromycin ointment three times daily. We have a recheck in two weeks where I’m hoping she will not need surgery as I’m not sure that this is covered by her insurance as it might be pre-existing.
It’s been ages since I had a cat with an e-collar this should be interesting.

Oh no. I am so sorry to read this. Will remain positive that it heals on its own and not need surgery. I know you also hope for the best, but are prepared for the worst. Keep updating us here. You are a wealth of great information and I am sure this will help others in the future.

@kauna, awh, sorry you and Dolly going thru this. I am glad you got in and early intervention. *sharing a positive My Yoda had a sequestrum yrs ago. vet put on drops to start and I took him to eye specialist who prescribed different meds and drops and all cleared up on its own, too month, and NO surgery.
from my older post 2018 :

Yoda eye update

Last month I took Yoda to the eye specialist because his cormeal sequestrum got worse
His eye had a brown colored coating appearance

The specialist tested his eyes

To my surprise she told me the cormeal sequestrum had healed with the idoxurine Oflaxcin drops

Now he presented with what she said was a secondary inflammation keratosis that can follow a cormeal sequestrum

Yoda has been on Famciclivor 3 x and I-drop Vet Gel eye drops

Wow! Amazing healing in a month! I can barely tell there is anything there anymore!

Very happy I took him to the eye specialist and he is healing great

hugs n positive vibes.

Thanks @tuffysmommy it’s never a dull moment in this household lol. I’ve just learned to roll with the punches and take it a step at a time. After all the dogs and Agnes’ medical stuff from before I try not to think the worst. That used to not be the case, it was always the worst case scenario that I played.
She is getting used to the cone of shame and wants nothing but snuggles so that’s good. Thank you for the lair prayers I’m hoping the meds help and we can avoid surgery.
