Cats usually do not recognize themselves in mirrors, instead they perceive their reflection as another cat, which can lead to confusion, curiousity, aggression, or eventual indifference. They may hiss, stare, paw at, or sneak around the mirror to find the "other" cat. Over time, because reflections lack scent, most cats simply lose interest and become desensitized.
