Cat paw pads are much thicker/tougher than the skin on the rest of their body. Their paw pads are fatty cushions made out of adipose tissue. They are essentially fibrous, fatty, and blood-vessel-rich pads rather than just a simple layer of skin. Their pads are made for protection, shock absorption, and sensory input. They are thicker so they are more durable than typical skin to handle, impact, heat, and cold. Even though they are thicker, they are highly sensitive, contain nerves to detect vibrations and textures. Feel free to post pics of your baby’s toe beans in the comments.
