Hello, I just got my first Sphynx, Newton. He currently eats kibble (Purima One mixed with Science Diet) and Natures Variety raw medallions. After reading this forum, I've decides to go raw and do it myself.

I plan on ordering from Hare Today but what other sites are available.

Also how much should I order. I don't know how long 5 lbs will last.

Also how much should I feed the little guy.

Thank you

An adult sphynx averages 3.5 ounces twice a day--so that is 6-7 oz. a day. 5 lbs equals 80 oz. --so 5 lbs is about 11 and a half days's worth. Kittens eat more than adults, so add a couple more ounces a day for them. So you would need about 15 lbs. a month. Good for you on deciding to go raw! Remember you need organ meat and bone also--does hare today grind whole animal? If so, you won't have to worry about bone/muscle/organ ratio. Check with local farmers, butcher shops, oriental markets for meat also. I don't know where you live, but if you live within the drop off area for My Pet Carnivore, you can order from them--they have excellent product.

Yes they grind whole prey! What about supplements.

Also what meats do you recommend?

Can I buy three and then mix together?

I order from Hare Today too! If you go under supplements, they have one called Alnutrin, that's what I use. Just dissolve 1 scoop for each pound in about 1/2 cup of water and mix. Good luck!

Thank you! I teach physics so Newton seemed like a good fit. If I get another, he will be Oppenheimer (Opie),

Good for you for going raw, it sounds like it works well for people/kitties! I have had to compromise and go for a fresh meat alternative due to my schedule and myc ats are so much better on it! So hopefully it works for all involved!

On a side note, I asked my mom to pick up a bag of food for my kitties the other day and she brought it over tossed the bag at me and said "Your cat eats better than me, you are paying for dinner next time!!".

Just thought I'd give an update. He loves his food, especially the rabbit! I ordered chicken and rabbit. What else does your cat enjoy? What about treats??

Sealy has had chicken, turkey, already (both were a hit) and he's on duck now which he also loves. I have rabbit in the freezer for him to try next which he will probably also love. For treats, he usually gets freeze dried chicken but I don't know the brand off the top of my head. Chicken is the only ingredient though. I also got him Nature's Balance (I think that's the brand) in rabbit flavor.

Glad your kitty is enjoying the raw :)
