My breeder had told me that I could be at her house as early as 9 AM to pick him up. Which sounds lovely, but with the drive being 2 hours, I would have had to be up and ready to leave earlier than I like. That being said, I didn't get Eli to school and ready to leave until 11
0.
Traffic was surprisingly light, so I made it in only an hour and half. I spent a good two hours just chatting with my breeder. Her and I got off really well and we were like long lost friends that had never met.
When I headed out, I put Cirro in the kennel I had set up in the back of my Jeep. That lasted for about 30 minutes. He just cried and cried. But it was when he started climbing the walls that I had to pull over. He explored the Jeep the rest of the trip.
When we got home, I got him set up in a bedroom. I let him get accustomed to the house while I picked Eli up and got him dinner. We spent a few hours playing with him and getting Eli and him used to one another. They do really well. They actually played together, which was shocking to me.
Blaze, my shepherd, is a whole different story. He loves cats, and can be overwhelming with his enthusiasm. Cirro hissed at him most of the night, but since Blaze doesn't chase or engage him I don't think it will take long for Cirro to realize that he isn't out to get him.
Overall, Cirro's acclimated really quickly, I have to say. He slept a good part of the night. Waking up and crying only when Eli crawled into my bed at 6 AM. He's running around the house like its his kingdom.
He's eaten and pottied. But I haven't gotten him to drink any water. So I'm keeping an eye on that. But without further ado, pictures!
