How do you keep your cat entertained?

Dinka has my Mom and his new buddy Choco-Latte. So he is never alone. I do have a window seat for him. He sunbathes in the morning and watches squirrels and birds. Very entertaining and thought provoking.

I set up a bird feeding station right outside the window for the kitty. She chirps and chatters every time the birds are close. It's too funny! It keeps her entertained when she's home alone!

I have a few bird feeders set up outside a bay window in our living room. All of our cats enjoy watching the birds and squirrels.

I am a new mommy to a 14 week old baby boy and he isnt up for playing much despite the many toys and big cat tree i bought him. He wants to be held CONSTANTLY and cries if he is not. Is this normal? He is on antibiotics for a cold he just got over and medicine for ringworm that he just got over. Im wondering if the meds just have him down or if this is his personality. I dont mind it at all if this is his personality, but i just want to make sure he is happy. Are any of your cats like this?

A bit. Until I found out what toys he really likes. He don't care much for little balls or mice, not until I got him a friens he can play with them together with.
My sphynx only likes feathers on a stick kinda toys. Those he run mad after.

Sphynxes are playful cats normally but not as some other breeds. They do like to be held much and cuddle but if he doesn't play at all he might be a bit too much of a mommas boy. How old was he when he was separated from his mother?

Smeagol certainly has times like this when he will just do his cross meow until he gets attention, however he does also like the feather on a stick thing and also ping pong balls (we have wooden floors so they go for miles!!)
I am finding my sphynxy far more demanding of my attention then any other furry felines I have ever had!

Ours are on there own during the day as Admin and I both work and the kids are in school, they seem to do fine. The kids get home a little before me and that is when they come down, for the most part when we are out they spend the day in our bed under the covers, unless it is warn out then they are basking in the sun.
When we go on vacation or a over night my mother either stays at the house or my dear friend that lives around the corner comes over a few times a day. I will never froget the time she called me because she bent down and Loe jumped to her back and she could not get him down:Laugh: I told her just to be thankful she was not on the toilet

Emmy sleeps most of the time if we are gone during the day, knock on wood she has never really caused to much trouble while shes alone.

When we go away for more then the day Emmy goes to grandmas house...anyone else leave their babies with a sitter when your gone?

Tammy's on her own if we're gone for a few hours but we'd take her with us if we were going to be gone any longer than that. Do Guppy and Moxie count as sitters ?

Izmae usually always goes to bed when we leave. But, if we go out of town we always have a kitty sitter, my sister is always good to do this. I would not leave her with just anyone. I would never go out of town if I did'nt have someone I could trust with her. I am a very over protected mother. But I am fortunite enough I get to stay at home, so I'm with her most of the time.

I'm never gone from home for a very long time, & my son is almost always here. On occasions when he comes out with me, when we get home we usually find the boys relaxing on my bed. This is why I leave the radio on for them with the volume low. They just sort of chill out & nap while we're away. Our male dog, Sammy is in my room with them, but he lays on the floor. My 2 girl cats like to be alone. Of course, I don't know if they're napping the whole time we're gone, but there's always plenty of toys on the floor to keep them entertained

If we were to go away for days, I'd have my oldest son come to babysit them, as I did last summer.

My mother in law lives with us, so whenever we go anywhere she loves to watch the pets for us, I guess they're sort of like her grandkids.

Anytime I am out of the house I leave the television on so my cat won't get bored and get into other (food) stuff.

Its not very often the house is without a human but if I do go out I either get a pet sitter (if longer than 4 hrs) or if its just a trip to the shops then the TV gets left on and dog and cat toys are left around for them all.

So is it you Admin stirring up all these old great posts? I keep our babies entertained with a bird feeder outside. Lots of toys. I actually hide some and reintroduce them again so they are excited. Jouët seems to be the only one fixated on certain toys so we keep them in her toy box at all times so we can play. I am actually her playmate. I work from home most Mondays and if you could see me playing, throwing toys and talking you would all think I am nuts...lol. But I can see how engaged they are...makes me wish I worked from home every day

Mine never could. Sure they jump pretty well but I think they tend to be a bit like uncoordinated monkeys :Laugh: That makes them really amusing to watch and I think they like beeing a bit clumsy. Like they almost are on purpouse just to amuze people watching them. Little clowns they are.
My other cats were always better high jumpers though.

I took Darwin shopping for food today by the way, didn't feel like leaving him so he rode it out inside my jacket with his head looking out at everything safelly tucked in in my lap. I'm normally in wheelchair so he sits perfect there. Just a quick stop for some juice and breakfast stuff.
Strange how EVERYONE wants to say hi and feel their skin, love it.
He just loves going places.
Most of the time I leave them both at home though if I need to do something. Thay play and sleep together and if not awake when I come home Darwin is in his carrier sleeping on his fleece blanket and Namir is sleeping in a box he learned how to open and crawl into.

Toys around the appartment and they play with eachother. Don't leave them much alone though but ofc sometimes it is unavoidible.

Also I play with them a lot before so they can sleep much the hours they are on their own. Sometimes I leave the radio on at the usual rock-channel, I think a sphynx is hardcore enough to not having to listen to watered down pop or god forbid techno. A hairless cat wants electric guitars.

There's usually someone at home. When we do have errands to run I leave the TV on animal planet and the TV set on soothing music in the other room. I have a window perch and when we leave Pinky & Yoda will go to the perch and watch us leave. They both sit there and look at us. They give me the guilt trip. They aren't in the window when we get back. They are both right at the door chirping to greet us. I pick up one and my husband gets the other.

Mercedes has that stupid cats meow toy with the electronic mouse tail that goes around in circles. And her mice toys and angry bird toy. And her big cat tree.

She does enjoy bugging my dog.

I couldn't vote because my solution wasn't in the poll. After my plants and numerous breakable objects were destroyed (Yoko got bored of two huge cat trees, another (not very active) cat, fish tanks, and an array of cat toys) I finally added a little Siamese brother Victor to keep Yoko busy. Now Yoko and Victor are like brother and sister - they sometimes argue over things but they love to play and sleep together, and my new plants are safe again!
