im feeding chloe 1.25 cups total of better in the raw a day. in the morning about 6 am. (she used to eat at 9....) she howls and throws a fit until i feed her. im not really wanting to go up on the raw food amount(i feel 1.25 cups is already alot. the package says for an adult cat 3/4 cup). is there some kind of fruit or something i could give her to help tide her over until her actual eating time?

That sounds like quite a bit of food, however Im not a raw feeder, perhaps @Xandria can chime in on amounts. If your not already, can you cut it in half and feed once in the morning and once in the evening?

@johnathan -- Hi there.

Kittens will eat (usually) way more than adults. Kittens should be fed 3-4 times a day if possible. Adult cats should be fed 3 times a day. That's if you're doing raw. I do raw with BitR as well.

Ignore the feeding instructions on the BitR package as that's for furred cats. Sphynx burn through way more calories than furred kitties. 3/4 cup is about 170 g. That is not a lot.

My two eat, as adults, EACH, about 1.5 cups of food a day (just over 300 grams). As kittens they ate 2-3 cups (454 g to 6oo g) of food per day.

YES, you can supplement with SOME vegetables. Peas, broccoli, bok choi, spinach. I usually steam a pile of broccoli, put it through the food processor and jar it (freezing most of it). I tend to put about 85 - 95 g of BitR mixture in a bowl and then 10 g of pureed broccoli on top. I mix it up, add a bunch of hot filtered water from the kettle so it's like a thick soup, and that fills them up. The extra water will make them pee more, but it makes them feel fuller, and it also has the bonus of flushing their system nicely. Plus they sound funny for a while with the water sloshing around in their bellies!

I'll take a pic of my set up tonight when I feed.

I hope that helps!

@johnathan : I'm a little late with the pics, but here's my feeding process.

Steamed and pureed broccoli on the left, and camel protein with Better in the Raw on the right.

First I turn the kettle on to boil some water.

They were hungry this morning so I doled out about 95 g of meat and 10 g of broccoli. The white powder is lysine, which they get twice a day.

I mix it all up really well as the water is coming to a boil.

I make a well in the centre of the mixed food and pour in hot water. This heats up the food to a nice temperature for eating. As I mentioned before, the extra water is really good for them even though they pee more.

I mix in the hot water and stir until it looks like this.

And serve. Max prefers his meals served with a view.

Min is a VERY messy eater so she gets a towel.

Thank you ! I definitely have 1 million questions because I'm feeding from a company called small batch but I'd like to get into this a lot deeper and I'm really still confused on how this website works but thank you so much
