So it is now a mere 2 weeks until hubby's little bundle of fur gets here, and 5 for my handsome hairless bundle. We don't own any cats at the moment so we've been slowly accumulating things over the months: cat beds, toys, scratching posts, litter, litter boxes, food, etc etc, I just ordered a cat tree from Groupon yesterday. I've gotten some Sphynx specific stuff like clothes (the look on hubby's face everytime I show him a new sweater :ROFLMAO:) and soap.

So hubby's twin sisters own 2 cats, brothers from the same litter, I think they are about 1.5 years now. Sweetest cats ever. We cat-sat for them last summer, and they are actually the reason we decided to get cats! So we offered to watch them again while the sisters are on a trip, because we are excited to try out our new cat stuff, LOL.

Firstly, they immediately found the "cat room" upstairs I've set up. We got one of those rolling litter boxes, so we set that up and filled it with their litter (Tidy Cat), and they used it immediately, yay! Also a litter genie, which works perfectly. I learned there needs to be enough litter in the box or else it will smell like pee :wideyed: problem quickly solved! However I noticed the litter mat I got isn't the greatest, so hubby has already ordered another one that's getting here today.
I bought a thirsty cat fountain off Etsy and I currently have it set up on a side table downstairs, but I'm moving it upstairs to the cat room when the kittens get here. These cats are already trained with fountains so they took right to it.

Hubby was really having issues with the way the Tidy Cat litter smelled though, too chemically for him and it was making the kitties smell too. So we set up our 2nd rolling box and filled it with the Precious Cat litter I ordered, then we gave them baths! They did so well, I was kind of surprised. I got to try out my shampoo on them, seems to lather pretty well and smells good!

Anyway, we have them until Monday or Tuesday, then we're off on a mini vacation and Ponzu the Maine Coon will be here a few days later. It's been fun testing our stuff out on the cats and working out kinks and finding improvements all before the kittens get here :)

Here are some pics!

The cat room. Work in progress still! There's a dresser off to the right that I keep the toys, food, and clothes in.

They LOVE hanging out with my bearded dragons. Not sure the dragons agree.

Brilliant! The cats are beautiful and look like they had fun testing out the stuff! You are well prepared and I think you're cats will think they have hit the jack pot when they arrive at their new home!!

I don't think they've ever been bathed before, but they both did great! There was no meowing, and only a couple half hearted attempts to see if they could climb out of the tub. They obviously weren't pleased but didn't seem stressed. I wrapped them in towels when they were done and they were perfectly happy to be held like babies. They were praised and given treats, they love hanging out in the bathroom when we're in there so we don't want them to be afraid and think we're going to bathe them again, lol. The twins suggested it and my hubby really wanted to get that litter smell off them, so we figured, why not try it out.

Oh that sounds really great. I'm afraid the cats of your sister in law don't wanna go home anymore!
Yea, they get super spoiled when they come to our place! The twins figure their cats will probably run from them when they come to get them, lol.

We love these cats, it's crazy how laid back they are. Last time we watched them we took them over to a friends place who had her own cats, and they were just like "oh cool, more cats!" without the usual hissing that comes with introductions o_O So we hope our kittens will turn out the same, we plan on socializing them as much as possible. We know too many kitties who just hide when we see them, we want ours to do the opposite when people come over, or when we take them out :)
