So Percy comes next week yay! Here is the latest picture - he's the bigger one lying down

he is fed natural instincts raw diet.
The breeder said he'll be fine to switch over to the royal canin wet and dry that all my guys are on. That said I went on the natural instinct site to see how much food to feed him. I also put in binx weight -it seems such a little amount to feed??

Does anyone else feed natural instinct - I'm jn the UK. Of course if this true then this will be so cheap to feed all my Gang! You get x2 pots of 500grams for £4.75.

In effect it would cost £2.35 to feed 5 sphynx per day. I can't see this is right?

I do feed raw, but, as far as wet I feed 2-3 Times a day. I leave out dry
to free feed. My Izmae is perfect size. After one year of age if they start
to get fat you can cut back some. Just watch and see. Most breeders use
Royal Canin.

Raw is always cheaper to feed then can and kibble. I used to feed can and kibble and it cost me in can food alone for 2 weeks 6o dollars for 2 cats and then the kibble another 40 for 2 weeks.

I'm mostly thinking about the amount they say to feed - 60-90 grams seems such a small amount to feed over a day. How much per cat kg would you guys feed in raw food ? Thankyou

I know it costs so much to feed the little monkeys! They're worth it though

My cat weighs 5.4kg and eats around 200g a day/100g per meal twice a day. So the daily estimate on the website seems about right, but due to hairless cats using food faster in order to stay warm you might find the need to feed above the recommended amount. Natural Instinct is a good food, I prefer Nutriment.
No harming In trying it, and it would be a considerble better diet for you kitty's over feeding kibble.
No reason why you couldn't feed one of the above products and the RC wet might be necessary during a transition period.

I don't do raw. I do canned and dry. Some reason, it said I do, in my post,
instead of ,don't.

Wet is a good way to transition or feed part wet and raw if the raw gets too expensive. Just keep in mind if you add wet you may not get the benefit of odorless poops. But this isn't a guarantee on full raw either. They are Sphynx after all
Mine eat around 6 oz each per day to maintain 7 lbs. They ate more than that when they were kittens. Bottomless pits they were! They ate 3 times a day 3 oz each time so almost 10 oz. a day.

I hope they do. Best of luck with it. If they don't take to it right away you try tempting them with Bonita flakes, fortiflora (wouldn't need to be a whole packet in a day, just enough to get them interested), or Parmesan cheese the powder kind.

I was feeding Blue Buffalo 5 ingredient for sensitive stomachs kibble and then BB canned as well; when I started thinking about the switch I did the math and I'm really spending about the same it's just spread out differently.

As for the amount; I was finding a lot of different opinions on the amount to feed. Elfie is 6.6lbs and she has decided that 4oz a day is enough for her. She wont eat more then that.

I found it was about the same cost wise too for commercial raw. It was an easy way for me to start though and very convenient. So at the time it was worth it. As I've learned more and become more comfortable with making my own the cost is significantly reduced. For me I like knowing where the meat is sourced from and exactly what is added to it. A work in progress (y) Just like my own eating habits lol.

If they've never had raw before they won't recognize it for what it is, food. Try mixing just a bit in with their wet food. Gradually reduce the amount of wet over a few weeks. It can take a bit of time to switch them. Keep trying. You can try adding one of the items I had mentioned before, Bonita flakes ect to tempt them. Good luck!

Sorry they are fish flakes you can usually find them at pet food stores. A little canned tuna fish juice can work too. Anything that'll tempt them to eat it really.

Hello my love! Percy looks so sweet!

I'm from the UK too and currently feeding Tak Natural Instinct - I've actually just created my own thread asking a few questions which have popped up on me about raw food in general as well as asking veterans to rate the brand!

I think I am just being a worrywart with some of my questions there - so far after some more focused research Natural Instinct has all the bone and organ meat they could possibly need - which is great !

So hopefully we both benefit from that thread and some long term raw feeders can help ! <3

So far though I love the brand and the food is easy to dish up and serve.

We are currently using one tray a week and defrost it overnight in the fridge and its usually good to go in the morning.
We spent on our first order around £30 inc postage and stocked one draw in our freezer full and that's now effectively the kitten draw!
Its lasting us really well - although Tak is fairly small and not too greedy shes so far demolished the Wild Venison pack and the Lamb flavour too!

It comes solidly frozen in a big insulated box and is well packed - just make sure you are in for the delivery driver as it will need to go straight into the freezer.

She was on kibble but also raw beef and some wet food - the breeder was trying to transition her onto kibble for normal pet owners- so I was lucky with being able to flick her back onto raw. Compared to my previous Sphynx Edmund who was on special urinary kibble - Taks poops are a lot less fragrant on raw - genuinely think that's a bonus alone!

The dietary requirement is measured in calories. To make it easier the pet food companies put grams on the package.

Dry food has a lot of calories and so to keep your cat at a good weight you would have to limit the amount of kibble. I think that may be why the feeding instructions say such a small amount. The problem is the cat will still be hungry. This is part of the math of cat food.....kibble looks cheaper that canned food but that's not the whole story because the cat will need to eat more kibble to feel satisfied.
